Banchero’s fit is far more questionable than Smith or Chet who just look like perfect roster fits. But the Rockets are in a position where they just need talent and Banchero has loads of it offensively. If he’s the guy it’s still all good.
I like Chet a lot but as I’ve thought about it more he literally needs to gain 50 lbs. Certainly possible but he needs to go on the Brock Lesnar, Barry Bonds, Giannis diet. He doesn’t have the perimeter skills of a Durant coming out of college so I don’t see his career developing that way. He isn’t as NBA ready as Sampson was either.
NBA does not like the Rockets and will do us no favors…it’s more likely they give us the 4th pick next I haven’t even seen any other name mentioned in next year’s draft on here aside from Victor, so Lord have mercy once we get gifted the 4th pick after all that losing
yeah, i can see the rockets using those second 1st round picks for the next few years on Euro players for sure. Just seems like a potentially solid style… Bring ‘em or stash em. Take the solid american kid and then the solid euro that folks don’t know about.
Yup, after 2023 draft Rockets give up their 1st to OKC until 2026. Rockets badly need to hit on their 2 FRP this draft. The rebuild has small window 2023 Houston OR Brooklyn first-round pick, whichever is higher Milwaukee first-round selection 2024 Brooklyn first-round pick Houston second-round selection Golden State second-round pick, protected for selections 56-60 (anything higher and it conveys) 2025 First-round pick from Houston, Oklahoma City, OR Brooklyn (Oklahoma City can swap its 2025 1st for Houston’s first-round pick, top-10 protected; after that is decided, Houston can swap whatever pick it has for Brooklyn’s selection, if desired) Houston second-round selection 2026 Brooklyn first-round pick Houston second-round selection 2027 Houston OR Brooklyn first-round pick, whichever is higher 2028 Houston first-round pick Houston second-round selection https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/20...ustons-draft-assets-protections-through-2028/
I’m coming around to Paolo. why? look obviously you can’t win in the nba with a top defense. Paolo wasn’t awful defensively. He seemed uninterested at times… but his defensive advanced stats are near Tatum level at Duke. I’m REALLY excited/interested in Paolo’s unique offensive ability. A 6’10 dude that can ball handle, has a variety of moves, can play 3-4-5. Offensively they’d be set. he’s still the guy I’d choose 3rd. But just barely. And he has the highest floor - if you told me only 1 of the top 3 ever becomes an all star, I’d choose Paolo to be that one. Jabari obviously wound be great. Floor spreader. Defense. Fits with Jalen and Alpi great cause of the shooting. Chet seems impossible here. If the Magic pass, OKC won’t.
Yup, and then the board would absolutely be on fire because then we'd actually have to take seriously the troll suggestions of Ivey, Sharp, Duren, and Murray
Y’all with the “NBA hates the Rockets” takes look silly. We just landed the #2 and #3 picks in back-to-back drafts. Those picks could have been 18 and 5.
No disrespect but you're just now figuring that out? This is a two horse race; Banchero and Smith. Hopefully Orlando and OKC doesn't figure it out before the draft.
Interesting thing about the lottery drawing (yes, I actually watched that damn video) : The Rockets won the #3 pick with the combination :1-12-6-3 The Rockets also won the #4 pick with the combination : 2-10-1-12, but of course they can't keep it. They re-drew the ping pong balls and Sacramento got it.
I could see them moving the 17 this year to pick up a pick in one of those later years. We know that’s what Stone was trying to do with EG at the deadline. There is an issue of having to pay a bunch of rookies coming do all at once or near once.
Feel the exact same way. Really hoped to land top 2 because we’d be guaranteed a great prospect who is also a great fit but if it’s Paolo that’s still a nice piece.
