I'm no fan of Dusty, but his was one of his better moves to line up the rotation. 05/16/22 @ Red Sox ODORIZZI, Jake 7 05/17/22 @ Red Sox URQUIDY, Jose 5 05/18/22 @ Red Sox GARCIA, Luis 5 05/19/22 Rangers VALDEZ, Framber 5 05/20/22 Rangers VERLANDER, Justin 4 05/21/22 Rangers JAVIER, Cristian 6 05/22/22 Rangers ODORIZZI, Jake 5 05/23/22 Gardians URQUIDY, Jose 5 05/24/22 Gardians GARCIA, Luis 5 05/25/22 Gardians VERLANDER, Justin 4 A four man position player bench doesn't leave much room to maneuver with two banged up players in the infield and one of the 4 always being a catcher. The only real choice he had was Siri or McCormick and Siri had a great day. Just remember, I'm not a Dusty sycophant. Just calling it as I see it.
He has his plate eye back but is swinging just under the ball creating pop flies. If he missed them a little more, they'd just be foul balls, so he's close. He is a successful adjustment away from good Bregman, unlike last year. He's back to fewer misses on ball/strike calls than the umpires. I am probably one of the few who don't mind getting on base via walk. I don't care how you get on base. I liked it when Biggio would get the HBP to get on. I know players are always working on adjustments. Some work quickly and some take time while others don't work. I'm confident he'll find one that works. Now moving him down the line-up until he does is a good point. But Dusty likes forcing the issue by leaving them in place until he has no choice.
I'm so unimpressed with AB and BA I don't even track them. PA and OB, even to the point of subtracting a base-runner for every double play. One walk or hit and one DP means 0 net base-runners.
I suggest that is normally true if he's squaring up the ball. But right now he's not. Close, but not. We would scold him for popping up on a ball if he did as you suggest.
Dubon replaces Goodrum on both rosters seems to be the expectation. I bet he plays today. Dusty like to do that to new players on the active roster.
There was an article in the Chronicle yesterday saying Odorizzi's next start is unclear, so I wasn't aware he was starting Monday. I hate jumping on the table for Odorizzi, but I hate mixing things up just for the **** of it just as much. If he's starting Monday, fair enough I guess. Nike Goodrum triggers me.
He has most certainly not been an "average" hitter at any point, particularly not this season. It's pretty clear Bregman was a beneficiary of the juiced ball, 30-40 homer Bregman likely isn't coming back. But he still has extremely good AB's, hits for some power, and his average will climb a little with his BABIP. I suspect he will be an .825-875 OPS guy by years end, which is an extremely good hitter, and likely still the second best all around hitter on the team after Yordan (one could argue Tucker)
Here Here. Bregman has been above average EVERY YEAR. But his 2018 and 2019 MVP level years make good years seem like bad years. But he looks so much healthier than last year, I'm optimistic moving forward.
I suspect DUBÔN get's a start today. I read somewhere on this site that Dusty mentioned the Astros plans for Pena and Altuve, but I can't find it. I may have lucid dreamed it in the middle of the night. I think one was starting today and the other stayed on d to d. Along with a comment on Dusty being too honest.
