At this point of time, have we received anything at all from the Harden trade? I know we get picks and swaps for the next 6 years, but was Sengun or Christopher from Harden?
Yes, we received Jalen Green. And an opportunity, when Jalen Green is on a good competitive Rockets team in 3-4 years, to be able to take additional steps forward with future nets picks, that likely no other competitive team will have access too.
I feel like Jalen is going to make 8+ All atar games and multiple All NBA teams. And I agree with counting him as an acquired asset. Even our top pick this year may not have been had if we had Simmons or Allen. The strategy has been cohesive although certain aspects (IE Dipo) were mistakes. Can't wait for next year.
Christopher was our return for Jarrett Allen, who was part of the Harden trade. Sengun was acquired for a Pistons pick and the Washington pick we got in the Westbrook/Wall trade. We haven't used any other assets from that trade just yet.
What a weird thread. OKC hasn’t received any of the draft capital from them Westbrook-Paul trade, either. So why are we freaking out about it?
Honestly I find it exciting that we've used so little of that haul because I already feel like we did great in the draft last year and we did great getting KPJ for nothing. I feel like by the time we hit 2023 free agency with cap room we're going to be in a great place to make a big move and we'll still have all of these draft picks coming for years from other teams. Beautiful!
If Jalen Green scores more than 1 point in the 3rd or 4th quarter of a close out game he's already better
I know, right? James should really have 3 - 4 MVP's. That said, Jalen's a studly stud. He's definitely got "IT". So, we have JC so far. And, I'm assuming we move up from #17 this year...into the 7-10 range. I see KPjr as a product of that deal too. Those last two swaps and the last pick were always going to be sweet. But, seeing as the Nets have already started to implode, anything could happen now. This is going to be a Herschel Walker type of haul at minimum. This has the POTENTIAL to set up a dynasty if we play our cards right.
No matter what, it takes a lot of luck unless you get a true pantheon level HOF guy (lebron, duncan, shaq). Even philly (who of course got decimated by silver so not blaming them), despite being set up amazingly well didn’t create a dynasty. They drafted fultz, who was the unquestionable number 1 guy and he was a complete bust. Luck will still determine a lot, all you can do is give yourself the best odds
I'm curious to see how Harden will bounce back from this..either he's going to get serious about wanting to win by getting in shape or he'll continue in his new playmaker role. But one thing remains consistent even from his Rocket days Harden disappears in elimination games
Well I would have kept Jarrett Allen but the boss (Patrick Fertitta) has always liked Oladipo (Combo Guards) and TPE. But the ineptitude has brought us Jalen Green (they were aiming for Cade). Boss probably wants Jaden Ivey and I have learned to accept it. Actually endorse drafting Ivey if #2, 3 or 4. Like the Clippers pre Blake/CP3.....one player away from contending. That one player was MJ and now we got Jalen Green which will make even 3 guard lineups work. Either Patrick Fertitta is an innovative basketball genius or the luckiest son of a gun since inspector Clouseau.
Its a stark realization how many fans were hurt by Harden when you see all these threads get bumped and rehashed. Hopefully the people who are still living with that energy can purge once and for all and let it go. Time to move on folks. Its not healthy nor does it inspire good karma for our own situation to relish in the misfortune of another. We've got a new Young King on the throne with similar traits to nurture. We will see if he has the courage and heart to slay the Dragon when its time where the Old King never could. Look onward and upward - never backward!
Haven’t been this excited to watch rockets ball since Cp3 was traded here Im glad Stone didn’t bring back some “star” player. He is building this thing from the ground up
