Rockets Lakers trade Lakers get Wall Porter jr Wood Gordon Garuba Rockets get Westbrook Davis Draft compensation Almost a no brainer for the Lakers. They get a supporting cast to play alongside LeBron for one last shot, and some young talent to look at. They also clear the salary decks and can throw 2 maxxes after the season (and remain a marquee destination). Houston tries to win games next season and rehab Westbrooks value and gain further assets from him in a S&T after the season. Davis has great value if healthy and may be a nice fit with Green. All the Rockets young assets increase in value if they win games. I dunno.. Still yuck because of Westbrook- just bored and thinking about what might be good for the Lakers and how they can best improve themselves after the Westbrook yucks. Getting AD might be good? But perhaps not worth it with Westbrook taking all of Jalens shots, and all of our new top 5 picks shots....
Sounds great from the Lakers perspective .... Rockets, not so much. The Rockets are set to have a ton of cap space in 23/24 and this just makes for more competition in that offseason by giving the Lakers the chance to be a player in FA.
Yeah - very true! Problem is that if we sare the worst team in the NBA again, there may not be a long line of FAS queuing up to sign! Also, one imagines AD retains enough value to ve traded for a max FA (throw in the Lakers 27 pick we steal in the trade!)
How far do you think a core of Ayton/Jabari Smith/Green/D.Murray goes in a 5 year span @steddinotayto Note: obviously a lot would have to happen for this lineup (Ex: Ayton is a RFA likely getting the max and would likely require a trade to get). Also, this isn't an attempt at "best lineup I can come up with" or anything. Just looking at non-superstar but slightly-maybe-possibly available players that would be worth accelerating a rebuild for
Rockets need to trade for 6'9 2 way point forward Jalen Johnson prior to draft. This should allow Rockets max flexibility, especially at pick #17.
1. Win 1st pick in draft 2. Trade down to the 2nd pick obtaining 1st round pick next year 3. Trade the pick obtained from trading down in (2.) the #17 this year, and Rockets pick next year for #4, and Wood for 4th pick 4. Trade the Bucks pick and all of the Nets picks and swaps for the 3rd pick 5. Harden opts in to his last year, then sign him next season 70% of max for 4 years 6. Draft Ivey and the two left from Paolo/Jabari/Chet PG Ivey SG Green SF Jabari PF Paolo C Sengun 6th man Harden/Christopher -or- PG Ivey SG Green SF Jabari PF Chet C Sengun -or- PG Ivey SG Green SF Paolo PF Chet C Sengun Now everyone can just get along and no arguing who the better player or fit is because they are all on the rockets team. Clutchfans lives happily ever after!
That’s a play in team right there if we’re assuming Sengun, Porter, JC, etc are still on the roster. In two years should be higher than a play in.
Whats the most your willing to give up for Kuminga? Im really keen to get him on this team. Wood and a first wont get it done IMO. Is he worth much more?
I just want as many bigs as possible who can stretch the floor and play D. Chet and Jabari would be dope AF. Just don't know who on our team other teams would want to be willing to part with for another top pick outside of Green and we all know no one on here is down for that trade, lol.
To Sixers: Eric Gordon Buddy Hield To Pacers: Alperen Sengun Tobias Harris To Rockets: Myles Turner To Bulls: Christian Wood Jae'Sean Tate #1 Pick To Rockets: Patrick Williams Coby White Then draft Jabari.... PG Porter SG Green SF Williams PF Smith C Turner Coby White becomes 6th man and backup plan for KPJ. Bulls might do because they have a log jam in the backcourt with Ball, Derozan, Caruso, White, and Lavine (if resigned). Their biggest hole is at the 4 and Wood would space well with Vucevic. Tate and Ayo could hold down 3. They can also use Derozan there too. Williams has been compared to Kawhi and has shot 39% from 3 in his 2 seasons. He'll be 21 so he's on our time table. He was hurt most of last year so we could get good value. This should also leave us some cap space though maybe not max... much better defense though having average or better defenders at 4 out of 5 spots...
With the way their season ended, I could see Morey and the 76ers being very desperate this offseason. I'm thinking something like Danny Green + a minimum salary + 2 future FRPs for Christian Wood. I think Wood is going to be more attractive to them than Gordon, as they need another big man that can score, create offense, and stretch the floor. I don't think Wood's the only piece they'll have to get to improve their roster, but I could see this being their "big" move this offseason. The one thing Morey did a lot with us is he traded picks when we were competing, and that was long before the Russ trade, so I see this as remaining in character.
This is a terrible trade for the Rockets. Not trading Sengun, Wood, Tate and picks for Turner and Williams. Turner is a free agent in a year and there are better younger options in the draft. You don’t give up Sengun for that.
It's crazy how much this board overrates Turner. He's good, but damn, he averages less than 13 points a game and misses a TON of games.
