Essentially he's stating that Banchero needs the ball in his hands to be as effective as possible. As a result he'd probably be getting the lions share of shots. I think that's a reasonable assumption.
If Chet and Jabari are gone when we pick but Paolo is available, I am gpimg Banchero and worrying about the redundancy b/w Paolo and Alpi later on. Definitely not starting them together next year though. I'd just deem one super-sub and give them starters minutes. I think Paolo can log minutes everywhere from 3,4 and 5. I even think you could come up with some lineups where the length is enough on D to run Paolo at the 1. We just need to acquire longer players that can shoot. Eason should really be primary target for #17 or tradeup.
Ive moved Mathurin to #5 in my own personal ranking. As I watch more and more draft content, I just love the idea of Sengun/Holmgren/Garuba Holmgren/KMJ Mathurin/Tate Green/Gordon KPJ/Nix
I love the idea of trading back into the lottery but I find it hard to believe any franchise values KPJ enough that they'd give up a top 10 pick for him. He's 3 seasons in and still raw .... full of potential and potential pitfalls. You and me both. I don't think I'd take him in the top 12. He brings little other than shooting from 3 .... very over rated as a defender and isn't quick enough. I just don't see the upside in the lottery. Completely agree with this too .... if I'm moving KPJ it has to come with Nix getting a chance to run the point but who I got with our top pick would have some impact on who I'd take in this scenario trading with NO to #8. Being at 8 is a tough spot, I'm not particularly high on any of these prospects 7-11 (Griffin, Mathurin, Daniels, Sochan, Duren) but there's several I do like beyond that (Mark Williams, Ousmane Dieng, Kessler, Eason, Jovic, LaRavia, Dalen Terry). 5 more days to the draft lottery ..... knowing who's picking where will go a long way to formulating any move up plans. Could see Portland, New Orleans, Sacramento, Washington or NY Knicks as potential trade partners for a move back into the lottery. Maybe even Orlando if they fall out of the top 4.
Athletic off guard with questionable shot selection and poor decision making. Doesn't score in the half court, which could be because Matt Painter can't make adjustments. A poor man's Westbrook(with less rebounding/court vision) so maybe a poor man's D. Mitchell. Not to mention at times he gets pouty on court... I get it happens and he is 19. Ultimately he is just a huge project that doesn't provide playmaking, defense or leadership. At that point just go after Davis or Branham.
I'd trade KPJ if it gives me the chance to nab Ivey. Does 9+17+Tate unlock top 5 pick? Imagine rolling out Ivey/Green/KMJ/Banchero/Sengun and just running teams to death. That's an insanely athletic 5. Just give Sengun the Jokic roll and be the de-facto distrbutor. Ivey+Green cutting and initiating on the Wings and Banchero is our late shot clock bucket getter. KMJ is just spacing the corners and help with rim protection. Honestly KMJ/Banchero 3-4 are perfect partners. I think people are sleeping on his KMJ ability to help with the duties of our 4/5. gives us some flexibility. Also Sengun+ Banchero would be an absolutely BRUISING duo to deal with for a full 48 minutes. That's 500+lbs that like to play physical. Ivey/Green/Christopher/Garuba/Banchero is a fun small ball 5 potential lineup.
Somebody suggested a top 10 pick for KPJ? monger he finished “strong”. I get it’s a weak draft compared to last year and next year. but I do t see how you pass this up. It’s a PG league…. In the sense there are endless really solid PGs out there. KPJ probably isn’t even a PG anyway. Just don’t know how you say no to that.
No one wants to touch KPJ. He’s perceived as radioactive, and has had too many incidents that will almost assuredly keep teams from offering anything of consequence for him. It’s the same reason I’m hoping we can re-sign him for a bargain in his RFA.
If forced to answer that question I'd have to answer Jabari ..... he's a shooter and really nothing more right now. His defense is vastly overstated. Sure he's expected to improve but he's behind both Chet & Banchero in most aspects other than shooting & Chet isn't very far behind there. For me, Chet is far and away the #1 with Banchero a distant second and Jabari 3rd by a length. Honestly 5-12 is much more interesting ....
