Having a 3rd option on offense is not good? GSW dynasty tertiary scorer was Klay (after KD, Steph). For most teams it's normally the 6th man, instant offense off the bench.
I have no idea what this has to do with anything I have said. I think the more scorers who can create their own shot, the better, and those guys usually come at the top of the draft and the lottery. Do you think Banchero is a tertiary scorer? Whatever that is.
Banchero needs to be the alpha scorer on his team to unlock him. That's his game, he needs as many touches as possible.
Tertiary scorers are needed, but not as much as guys that can play off the primary scorer and play defense. You can keep throwing a fit about the injustice that it is that I have Banchero 6th behind better players. It won't change my mind. I don't expect to change yours. I will say, I hope Banchero fans have not clouded my mind on how good he is.
So now Banchero can't play off the primary scorer? Banchero has no hope of being the primary scorer? So tell why Banchero needs to be tertiary score but Holmgren and Smith who have don't have as many skills should be picked over him? The fact that you have Banchero 6th tells a lot about your evaluation skils and what people should think of them, but hey you are the expert right?
Banchero was alpha scorer on his HS and college team. How is my projection so outrageous???? Relax man, you're going to have an aneurysm.
Pascal Siakam at one point was a "tertiary" scorer on a championship team I suppose, but he always had the skill to lead and just needed the right situation. Saying that a rookie is going to be this or that NOW is putting the cart before the horse. Paolo is a hooper. He can hurt you in many ways. He doesnt NEED the ball in his hands to be effective, it just so happens to be in a teams best interest to fully utilize a bruiser with touch like him due to the mismatch it provides. I think he will do well as a catch and shoot threat without the ball. He is a great screen man and should thrive in both roles out of the PNR. I would love to see him and Sengun operate the two man game - it would be a treat. Paolo Banchero CAN lead your team when needed. He CAN run your offense and would take the pressure off the wings in those instances or if there should ever be an injury situation on the team with the primary ballhandler. He will also do well as an ancillary piece when the other guys have it going because of his great IQ. Label him whatever they like. The cream will rise. It always does.
Dude are you really trying to tell somebody else to calm down? The guy that carried a torch for AG and would get upset anytime somebody else bad mouthed him? Really? Most NBA players were alpha scorers in HS and College what's your point>
I got a message today (just speculation) wondering what I thought of using KPJ in a trade to New Orleans (at #8). I never think of KPJ as a trade asset because I think the Rockets have more invested in him than he's worth on the open market, but still got me thinking. Pelicans and Wizards need guard help. I really want to move up with that second pick to get one of AJ Griffin (if he falls), Dyson Daniels, Jeremy Sochan or Tari Eason. Sochan and Eason REALLY intrigue me defensively.
I wouldn't trade KPJ to move up for Griffin. Yes for Eason. On the fence for Sochan or Daniels because it would mean Rockets open a hole on starting 5 (PG) to fill another hole (No 3 only D wing). This only works if the top pick is Ivey or Jabari imo. 6'6 Daniels 6'5 Green 6'9 Jabari 6'9 Wood 6'10 Sengun That is more balanced D, spacing and scoring. But do you believe that Sochan/Daniels or Sengun can be the primary distributor on the team? None of 3 have even the threat of a 3ball to keep defenses honest.
I'm no draft expert but from a value perspective it would be pretty impressive for Stone to trade an essentially imaginary 2nd round pick for KPJ and 1.5 years later flip him for a top 10 pick. There's no guarantee that pick becomes better than KPJ but there's really no guarantee with KPJ being fully committed to whatever role he may fall into here either. Would be pleasantly shocked if any team is willing to give a top 10 pick for him
I'd do it if Ivey or Murray slides to 8, but not for the other guys mentioned when you could very well nab them with pick 17 and in that scenario why wouldnt NO just pick Ivey for themselves? Sochan's shooting scares me. Eason MIGHT be there at 17 judging by some mocks. Im out on Griffin - if you hate Paolo Banchero's defense not sure why you would be high on Griffin for the same reason. I'd make this type of move to elevate Daishen Nix, but not to keep him buried behind a Dyson Daniels. I would prefer to hang onto KPJ, but not entirely against using him as an asset if he's viewed highly by another team.
I just dont know about Sengun and Wood together. I know that is only 2022-2023 and that the length of Smith and Daniels does a lot to help. I just need Wood to care way more on D.
Agree. But drafting Sharpe/Ivey and Sochan/Daniels requires holding on to Wood this season because he would automatically be the 1st or 2nd best big on the team and critical for spacing. Sharpe/Ivey Green Sochan/Daniels Wood Sengun If Rockets draft Banchero with 1st pick then drafting Sochan/Daniels would make little sense and completely destroy Rockets spacing. Banchero Green Eason Wood Sengun As it is, the spacing in this lineup is not optimal for a 5 out offense. And rim protection would still be a problem. And 4 of the 5 starters will struggle in switch D.
Would do that in a heartbeat. I never thought of KPJ trades because I didn't think he had value. I would love to get Griffin with "second" pick in this draft. And here is another crazy thought...what if Sharpe drops to a trade up pick spot. Sharpe as your second pick would be NUTS.
