I have a question for you. Lets pretend that Biden doesn't cancel these leases, then what? Do you think it automatically drives down the price of gas? Are companies ready to start drilling immediately to start extracting oil, thus increasing supply, thus decreasing demand and hopefully getting prices lowered? It's not really in their interest to increase production or inventory capacity if the world increases its shift to renewables. Higher prices means higher margins with lower effort on investment. You'll only get the oil industry to bite if there's a 2 for 1 sucker deal from the government, like what Dick Cheney used to pile on with their R&D subsidies. Even then it's going to take time and industry effort.
