Starts at 6:38. Very capable of initiating offense out of a rebound. Having KPJ/JG down the court with Chet capable of pulling up from the top of the key or hitting them in stride sounds super enticing to me. You also have to respect his ability to just get to the rim which is shown in the clip as well. This is where I've just kinda soured on Jabari as he doesn't have that "initiating the offense" ability like the other 3 prospects. He's kind of a one dimensional shooter and his heat map is downright frightening when you look at how little he has finished at the rim. Chet is also super efficient from that middle 3 point pull up.
I understand this, but some of your comps and questions are very strange. Especially the Dirk thing in comparison to Holmgren and Banchero when have you seen Holmgren do much in the post and mid post?
Don't really see a hitch it looks a bit to mechanical to me like he is trying to have perfect form, it looks more fluid in these videos like he is not thinking as much.
Being the #1 pick is a prestige thing, but also has huge ramifications from an endorsement standpoint if you have the hype that someone like a Lebron has. Even Zion got a good amount of endorsements as a rookie. Again just my opinion but fibbing a bit on your measurements to build hype as that elite level athlete with otherworldly gifts can be what puts you in the conversation for #1. Honestly the age ole "nah man he's only 6'8" he's not 6'10" NBA height pissing contest is silly, but it is DEFINITELY an NBA thing. This goes back decades to how people talked about Barkley, and even when people make big deals about shorter than normal PG's. Height in the NBA is like how Kardashians treat how thicc their a$$es are. But I will say though with someone like Durant his talent is so much more overwhelming because of that extra inch or two he has that gets him that extra space to get basically any shot off at any time. So sometimes... the inches do matter. In Paolo's case, we are probably being nit picky in picking Chet over him strickly because of a couple inches.... but that's what the fun of getting #1 would be I guess. We all get to drive each other crazy nit picking and getting to overly invested in our guy.
I'm talking about that typical NBA physical bluebrint of the 6'8" guy with a 6'11" wing span. Is he a 3 or is he a 4? He's not skilled enough to be a PG, but not strong enough to be a center. etc. etc. I'm talking about how the NBA seems to evaluate talent at the top of the draft, and frankly where they miss alot on guys especially in Kawhi's case. In Paolo's case NOBODY is going to miss on him because the skills are much more well known given what we saw at Duke for sure.... and yes I watched a ton of Duke. I know Paolo alot more than most. The guy is NOT Marcus Morris from a skillset at all. I'm talking about that physical profile that sometimes the NBA then labels you as more of a role player because of. Luka's a good example I think where it's obvious that his skill level was through the roof but just because he was in that Marcus Morris type of physical profile, I think that's the only reason why he didn't go #1. If he was 6'10" I think he's the #1 pick because the NBA is just weird about valuing those extra 2 or 3 inches. Also before you get worked up again... NO I'm not even saying that Paolo has a Marcus Morris physical profile yet. I need to see the Combine measurements first. I only commented on the videos that came out today that he's a bit shorter than I had thought. At Duke he sure looked every bit the part of 6'10".
Wait what? Did you just miss the talk around Zions height leading up to the draft? Do you think Banchero is actively fibbing about his height? There are some very rel things to talk about concerning Banchero and some good nitpicks, but this is the 1st height thing I have heard. I don't understand in being invested in any of these guys especially since we do not even know when we pick. None of this is actually fun because you don't get real discussions about these guy's actual strengths and weaknesses IMO.
Banchero is not 6'8 and MM is closer to 6'6 than 6'8. I am not worked I just don't understand your nit picks of Banchero andd you Comping Holmgren as Dirk when Banchero is more like Dirk than Holmgren. Maybe Miller is taller than 6'8 or maybe its dimensions. This is not a big deal, I just don't understand how you came to have all of these questions from one video when you admit he looked all of 6'10 at Duke. It should not matter that Banchero has a MM physical profile, since Banchero is much more skilled than MM.
I was at the OSU/Duke game... Paolo has got to be a legit 6'10 or maybe he has Kevin Love shoes? The kid is huge. If Mark Williams is 7'1"(a lot thinner looking in person) then Paolo has got to be closer to 6'11. EJ was a few inches shorter than Paolo.
LOL This is great news for Chet, Chuck never gets these things right. Said same about Mobley. Charles also shyte on Harden, Steph and Durant too.
Wood was listed at 6'11 in college. He's just over 6'9 barefoot. HS and colleges exaggerate heights, Cade and Jalen proved that last draft.
They play same position. Just like Paolo and Chet play same position and we've been comparing them ad nauseum. Are you saying we cant compare Charles Barkley and Karl Malone because of their similar height difference? Not sure what kind of point you're trying to make here.
Think six guys from that list may have a future. Others are either randoms, or I haven't followed them that much because their stats were dreck. Michael Devoe (Georgia Tech, 6'5 point guard, averaged 17.9 pts, 4.9 reb, 3.1 ast, 1.4 stl on 46-37-74) can make it in the league. Jamaree Bouyea (San Francisco, 6'2 combo guard, averaged 17.3 pts, 5.0 reb, 4.0 ast, 1.8 stl, 0.9 blk on 47-37-77) can make it in the league. JD Notae (Arkansas, 6'1 point guard, averaged 18.3 pts, 4.6 reb, 3.7 ast, 2.3 stl, 0.7 blk on 40-30-77) will get a chance due to his defense, needs to improve his shooting to survive. Marcus Sasser (Houston, 6'1 point guard, averaged 17.7 pts, 2.8 reb, 2.6 ast, 2.2 stl on 44-44-77) is a big unknown after his long injury (toe). Hyunjung Lee (Davidson, 6'7 forward, averaged 15.8 pts, 6.0 reb, 1.9 ast on 47-38-78) is a killer shooter and could make a career overseas. Fabian White Jr. (Houston, 6'8 forward, averaged 12.5 pts, 5.7 reb, 1.2 ast, 1.0 stl, 1.4 blk on 49-37-69) is a good glue guy and could make a career overseas.
He used 6'10+ as his cut off which slants the data towards players that are most efficient in paint. He purposefully narrowed the data to support his narrative, it's why everyone is laughing at this analysis on twitter. Jabari is more of a wing/perimeter player, it is exceedingly rare for wings to be in 6'10+ range e.g. Durant. Most of these players are between 6'4 and 6'9.
Dude just stop, are you actually trying to compare a consensus top 5 guy to a guy who might not be drafted? Really my guy? The point I am trying to make is that you are being ridiculous.
Would that difference not be because most schools measure in shoes while the NBA measures barefoot. You'll be anywhere from 1-1.5" taller in shoes. It's negligible at the end of the day.
Now you're just moving the goal posts because youre points are getting silly - cannot compare heights, cannot compare divisions, cannot compare due to coaches, cannot compare due to different roles, cannot compare due to (fill in the blank). And I did not say Roddy should be drafted above Banchero. I said they share similar skill sets and games. Just like I compared Dyson Daniels and Dalen Terry earlier in this thread. Stop trying to hijack the conversation because you cannot or refuse discuss topic rationally.
That's true but everyone who's played or even coaches at almost every level knows that heights are exaggerated.
At 6'10 255 he will be asked to play 4 and sometimes 5. But I agree, Banchero plays more like a 2/3 on offense. Not sure what his best position is on defense.
Dude? WTF are you talking about who said you could not compare those things and are you still trying to say Roddy should be compared to Banchero? So what they play the same position should we start comparing Tate to Durrant since they play the same position or Tucker to Giannis? Anyway I am out, it seems you want to go on one and I'm not in the mood. Did you really accuse somebody else of hijacking a thread? You still my boy Blue!
