95% of store bought pickles are inedible, it goes up to 100% if you're eating at any bbq joint, burger place, fast food, etc...

These are the best I've found.

Are they worth $18/jar? Because that's what it will cost me to buy the minimum of three shipped to my casa.

It depends on what you want them for. A garnish? As a side item? As an individual snack?

Dills, particularly hamburger dills, which I could munch on all day. You can just keep those nasty sweet pickles, odious gherkin, and horrid bread and butters out of my sight. The rest are just bad.

I love southern food and have had the body to prove it... but I could never understand the appeal of fried pickles. I mean... they're ok, but ...

The biggest most sour pickles that are soft and spill juice every time you bite it.

Wrong person to ask, but no, that's ridiculous. I'm revolted by most pickles, these are at least edible, due to their total lack of dill (dill being an herb whose sole proper use is keeping pests away from the garden plants that actually taste good) and somewhat non-limp/mushy texture.

Want a quick, delicious "pickled" salad:

Cut tomato into cherry tomato sized pieces (or cut cherry tomatoes in half)
Slice cucumber, bell pepper (I like red or yellow), red onion, hot peppers if wanted
Not quite ripe, still firm, avocado is a good addition too

In saucepan, combine and boil for 2 mins (multiply this so you have enough to cover however much veggie you have):
    3/4 c vinegar
    1/4 c water
    1 1/2 t celery salt
    1 1/2 t mustard seed
    1/2 t salt
    4 t sugar
    1/2 t cayenne
    1/2 t black pepper

pour liquid over veggies, cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours, but it's best the next day.
