Yeah, that was fun. Starting at about the 1:40 mark of the race, as he's making his move, Rich Strike starts looking sideways at the horses he's chasing, while passing them hauling ass. Once he gets almost even with the leader he puts his head straight and blows by him. You're not supposed to be able to do that.

That race was pretty amazing and then seeing him trying to bite the other horse was pretty damn funny. It reminded me of the Family Guy episode, “Family Gay”, at the beginning of the episode where Peter brings home the brain-damaged horse. Yes, his horse couldn’t race like Rich Strike but seeing the constant try at biting the other horse made me think of that episode.

That was some Smarty Jones level racing.

As far as field spacing, everything had to fall in place just perfectly...and it did. Just like Ricky Bobby engaging the Sling Shot.

    SHAKE AND BAKE!

    Amazing finish (overhead view).

Edit... whoops missed the earlier overhead post.

Even watching that overhead video, it still looked improbable. He started the race in dead last place and was never even in contention until that last 100ft. Unreal.

I watched it live for some reason. That was cool. Mattress Mack was there and lost a cool $1mil. lol.

The best thing about this race is how Rich Strike was mentioned one time during the entire call of the race until about 4 seconds left in the race, when it was like "omg... Rich Strike just won!" It's like the horse just went from "well, I have to say his name just to let people know he's in it" to "what the hell?! he won!".
