Not a fan of Dusty at all But Diaz is solid as a pinch hitter! Solid as a utility. Too small of a sample size to gauge this year for him. Dude is good, when healthy
If the Astros main problem is that when all their starters are playing and Aledmys is their best option to pinch hit for a guy hitting under .100, then they are in good shape.
I agree. Bench players are on the bench for a reason. Diaz is not the worst option to pinch hit. I do hope Hensley gets a shot this year as a reward for his excellent season in AAA.
We aren't hitting well enough. This doesn't work un the Playoffs and it's always been proven a losing equation for any Baker team
Who said they are hitting enough? I wrote, if their biggest problem was Diaz pinch hitting, then they are in good shape. It's obvious to any one watching the team this year, that Diaz being their first (or second) pinch hitting option is not their biggest problem. And in an incredibly small sample size he was 1 for 2 prior to yesterday. Do you think Diaz pinch hitting is their biggest problem? If so, then you think that is more of a problem than their mediocre hitting overall this year which contradicts your post. If not, then you agree with me.
Not counting changes that affect every team, their hitting problems are mostly sequencing, hitting them right at them, Yuli, catchers, DIaz, and Goodrum. The Astros have 7 guys that overall have hit well this season relative to other teams. If luck evens out, the Astros look like a Top 5 offense instead of the best this year. If Yuli (or someone else takes his place and) gets going, they may be the best hitting team again.
I'm trying to be optimistic about Yuli. After Monday's game, Altuve was slashing .154/.267/.231/.498. After yesterday, .255/.359 /.473/.822. Similar to what Yordan did after his illness. Yuli needs a good week.
