Instead of fighting, I invite you guys to forget and solve a meme. Spoiler https:// youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ
We probably should create a Harden thread like the Lin thread and keep all the bickering there. Maybe the "James Harden's Philadelphia 76ers" thread can serve that purpose. This thread should be about the playoffs series.
The extremely vocal minority aren't going to care. If there's a thread to specifically trash Harden, it's just going to consist of the same 5 posters circlejerking each other for maybe a page or two. And then they'd get bored with an echo chamber. Instead, they're going to talk about Harden in every thread possible. Even in ones that don't have anything to do with Harden, Philadelphia, Brooklyn or Houston. All because they're hoping someone will respond to them. It's a strange and pathetic behavioral pattern, since they probably get off on it by being **** on by the rest of the general population.
How about "Morey's misfits - the all-in-one I.D.I.O.T.s"? There Tinman could say we lost because Lin is careless with ball, AS could reply "no, it's because Harden is a choker", DD could interject with "we needed to develop/play Motiejunas more. Obviously!!!" Fun times.
its because all topics are interconnected and its easier to make a good point in the light of other topics or the current events while people tend to be more defensive and closminded in the original narrowly defined threads...seeing the same issue from different angles helps expanding horizons and repetition in different contexts makes things easier to learn and is conducive to making finer distinctions.... eg i bring a lot of critique of top picks worshiping in different threads where games are won and dominated by low picks where people may witness firsthand that low picks are as valuable as high picks instead of thinking about it in vacuum and in theory...like in this thread where butler being 30 pick surrounded by a bunch of other low picks and undrafted guys dominates harden and embid ie 2 top picks.... its fascinating that people who support high picks in theory find the performance of a top pick like harden unjustly condemned because his teammate is injured, when on the other side his opponent is a pick no 30 and bunch of undraftees...so we see first hand that those who support top pick worshipping in theory are first to find it suspect and illogical when it comes to practice and real basketball.... and this practice is not offtopic, its just expanding and elaborating on the original threads while still staying on topic...
My dude, the Heat didn’t dominate Harden and Embiid. They saw them both together once and got blown the **** out.
Random question - but does anyone know what the league does with the money they receive from fining players/teams?
"The fine money of NBA players isn't donated to charities directly, according to NBA collective bargaining agreement, The NBA and National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) first equally split fines that collected from players, with half the fine going to the Players' Association and the league retaining the other half. Each then donates its portion to a group of charities of its choice."
High picks are not the fking same as low ones are as valuable. This is an asinine take. Lebron James was taken first overall and u think the likes of Maciej Lampe (30th) is in the same atmosphere as him? Embiid was taken 3rd and his mvp contribution is only as valuable as the likes of Kyle Anderson? (30th) Garbage ass take. There are expection to low picks having great careers similar to the high lottery picks, but for every success story there r basically 50 other players that bust out or disappear every year
The success of low picks depend on the failure of other GMs to identify as well as develop talents. However, the pressure not to bust in lottery picks is another issue, hence high picks get more resources thrown at them, some of which might not be deserving. Others who are not drafted high, or at all, often don't get a chance for years, ie Seth Curry, Gary Payton II, or imagine Jeremy Lin didnt get lucky and having to bounce to Asia or Europe for a few seasons before another chance given; that's actually the common case.
spot on, high picks, low picks nobodys more talented than the others...its all about resources and opportunities they get thrown at them in abundance or not... even when we talk about superstars in their prime...its fluid... who is better changes from year to year and nobodys really that much better than the others except for having more resources ie better/healthier teammates, homecrowds, refs at their disposal or just plain luck(having to play in weaker conferences, easier opponents, road to finals every year paved) And if its fluid for superstars then how come top 5 or top 10 for 19 years old is somehow supposed to be set in stone(!?) and their talents readily apparent to anyone and has nothing to do with circumstances, work ethic or just plain luck? lololol TAKE THAT FOR DATA
well you hanging on the straw here the pick no 30 and undraftees dominated harden the pick no 3, THE TOP PICK and MVP... anyway no 30 and the undraftees are dominating the series... that embiied was injured and not available to play is his own fault and availability is the best ability...the tank giveth and the tank taketh away...the fact that he was pick no 3 didnt help him much to stay healthy and available for games 1 and 2.... somehow the pick no 30 and the undrafted guys were healthier and available for games 1 and 2...and they beat on poor top pick james harden playing alone...how come being top pick didnt help him to beat on pick no 30? too bad the health is part of the game and if embid were not flopping all around and falling on the floor every opportunity he gets, or avoided statpading in the garbage time he perchance too may have been available for games 1 and 2 TAKE THAT FOR DATA
