    Twitter did.

And the guy doesn't seem to actually be claiming that Covid and Flu are the same. He is saying that many people would not have been aware of a big difference if not for the media and rules. That may be true. I think in parts of Africa people really do not care about Covid at all. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

You appear to post tweets to get people's reactions to them ... and then complain that people are overreacting to your posts ... or unable to react to your posts ... or whatever.

I don't think "censor" means what you think it means.

So you do agree with the tweet? You seem to be arguing in favor of what the guy tweeted.

    You aren't being very clear.

You think that I am overreacting to your post. Clearly you must be happy.

I don't agree that "covid is just the flu". Many more people died - sadly - than even from a severe flu wave. Most of these people were either old or in some other way immunocompromised (which is something that is similar to a severe flu wave).

I do think that the risk for young, healthy people has been and still is overstated.

I do think that he has a point if he is trying to imply that the "measures" largely made no difference (unfortunately) and that many people would not really have been in such fear and the topic of Covid would not have dominated our lives as much if the media and politics had not made that happen to that extent.

People would still have died - sadly - but many would actually have been much less in a state of fear when it came to their own personal risk. At least that is what happened in parts of Africa and some poorer countries where Covid was not nearly as big a topic in the media and where politics ignored it more.

You may find that level of nuance annoying or heartless. I do feel sorry for those who lost loved ones. That is not contradictory to having come to the conclusion that a lot of the measures were useless and that an unnecessary epidemic of fear was promoted by parts of the media and some in politics.

Note: Vinay also compared US Covid Response to the rise of Hitler and fascism. Wonder where his politics lie...

Come on now. In April 2020 we didn’t really know what we were dealing with. We didn’t really know how bad the pandemic would be. Officials everywhere were trying to do the right thing in order to save lives. At that time we didn’t have vaccines, we didn’t know how to treat the sick, we didn’t have enough PPP to go around, there was major concern about the health care system being overrun. Things were being locked down in many places around the world, not just in the USA.

It’s so easy to look back and say we should have done this or should have done that. NOW we do have a lot more information about this virus, and we have a better idea how to protect the most vulnerable.

I had no problems with the lock downs at the time. People were making tough decisions trying to stop the virus. If we had known then what we know now about the virus, I’m sure some things would have be done differently. What’s the point of rehashing the past over and over again? I do not see any severe lock downs coming to the USA in the future. Time to move forward and work together to try and live with this virus the best we can.

I think there was never any science to justify arresting people who were alone in the ocean. Even in April 2020.

I’m going to assume that the beach he used to access the ocean was closed to all people. They didn’t want huge crowds gathering anywhere at that time, including beaches. Come on now.

And, technically, he was arrested for refusing orders to get out of the water.
