This is why we should always protect the separation of church and state. The problem with ALL holy books is they leave a lot open to interpretation and people can pick and choose what they want to believe...but not only that, people can also, if they have the power, just rewrite the things and invent their own religion.
I don't dislike Muslims and I don't wish they didn't exist. I just hope that they will similarly ignore all the intolerant elements of their ideology as most Christians have been doing. But that would require them accepting and realizing that these elements of their religion are wrong. And this is really difficult to talk about because when you talk about it, people conflate things and say "you hate Muslims" and it becomes an us vs. them. Plus, like with the Mafia, apostates are threatened with death. The ideology does not allow itself to be questioned.
