Putin is putting this out there to bait Trump into going hard publicly in support of him in order to try and change the political dynamic here in the US. Which is a sign of weakness at the moment on his part. Everyone knows he's team Trump, and Trump is team Putin. So pushing for Trump to say more right now tells you all you need to know.

It won't change the radical turn of the party but at least it might detour the next loser from starting an insurrection to stay in power, or trying to persuade those with means to change the votes in their favor. We don't want a corrupt political system where the votes of the people and the electoral votes don't matter.

As president I don’t think that’s true. Congress would still have to impeach and ban. The main question is how the Chief Justice swears you in when you are in jail. Does CJ Roberts swear you in from the other side of the glass?? Funny thing is you can’t vote if you are a felon who is out of prison even in some red states but you can be president from prison.
Many states have laws already that ban a convicted felons from running. If Trump isn't on the ballot in those states it would be very hard for him to win.
