The thread was a question, not a recommendation. Not sure why people don't get that. I asked Clutchfans if there was anyone in the draft that you think Jalen Green was worth trading for. That simple. The answer could be Yes or No and why. I didn't say, Rockets SHOULD trade Jalen Green for another Top 4 pick. People need to read better and stop acting like @ssholes over questions.
oh you mean decades and decades later the use of revision. so lets flip it then, does it apply or nah. The rockets trade jalen green and he later becomes a superstar for the scrub they traded him for the very next year
Considering the number of people who are torn between Chet and Jabari, I thought I would offer up a scenario where you could get both. Wasn't bored, wanted to see if people thought Chet or Jabari were worth trading Jalen Green for or any other top prospect they like for that matter. Simple question. Too many people talk $hit without thinking about what was actually written, like the fact that it was a question. You could simply answer No and say no one in this draft is as good as Jalen. Simple.
Anything is possible, again, no one knows how these guys are going to turn out talent wise, health wise, drug abuse, etc. The question was simply would you trade Jalen for someone in the Top 4 and get 2 guys you like? We didn't do it with Sampson, not saying the same thing would happen here with Jalen but someone on the forum may be like I thank Jaden Ivey is going to be the next Ja Morant and we gotta have that guy, I'd move Jalen for him, who knows? It's just a discussion. Y'all act like I asked you would you trade your Mother for something. If Jalen walks out on this team like Harden did is he going to take your Rockets fandom with him?
the proposed scenario makes no sense, no matter how you want to try and spin it, in order to find some kind of justification you get 2 guys you like by sticking with the guy you drafted at #2 a year ago who literally just showed a ton of upside and just turned 20. And adding that 2nd guy to him. it's that simple. you don't reverse the process and start from 0 once again by starting over and showing you have literally no direction and have no intention of moving forward
Get used to it, some players get treated like jewels or top collectibles. Some players get discarded like garbage. If one really distances oneself, it does not really matter as long as the team is alright. After all, there are a lot ways to Rome or neither goes to Rome.
YOLO, it makes sense because the person THINKS that the player in the draft is BETTER than Jalen. Just because you think Jalen is better than everyone else in the draft doesn't mean everyone thinks the same way. Granted 98% agree, that's fine, but it's a forum for discussion, which is the entirety of what CLUTCHFANS is. People come here to discuss things. It's perfectly reasonable for someone to think that Chet or Jabari may turn out better than Jalen and would like to have both of them.
In that case then, the person who actually thinks that unknown player in the draft is better is as dumb as Tilman is. you literally just admit to yourself you don't know what you're doing and just wanted to start over with an unknow. and not 1 but 2 There's not much of a discussion when the actual decision is crystal clear Chet and Jabari aren't even the same type of player Jalen is. That lineup proposed stinks and doesn't even make sense
So in your mind, you are so certain that no one in this draft will meet or exceed Jalen's talent and output that even the thought that one of them could, makes that person dumb. Again, this is a simple Yes or No question.
in my mind, I know I don't trade a 20 year old Jalen Green who was taken at #2 less than a year ago who really showed some high level flashes. and say to myself ok I'm done with him and just throw him away for someone else I have no clue how will do. You already have that issue with the top 5 pick you have upcoming and how they will fit together. Yeah stupid and dumb. definition of someone who has no clue what they're doing if they're willing to make that dumb decision and take steps backwards
And just for the record, I would bet that you would have said the EXACT same thing back in '84 when you had an even more unique and impressive player in Ralph Sampson and were proposed with #2 pick and Drexler. I'll bet in your mind that would have been dumb and stupid and a step backward. Your certainty would have made you feel confident, but you would have been wrong. Just trying to say, be a little more open-minded if you can. Just because you think you're right doesn't mean you are.
I'd replace Tatum with Trae. Tatum is too one dimensional for my liking. Imagine being Sacramento that year lol.
I've always said I thought he was a "First big off the bench" type, not a starter ..... That's a good player, a rotation player ..... but not a superstar that you hitch your wagon to. As for Green, no. I wouldn't trade him for a top 4 pick in this draft.
Green would be the #1 pick in this draft. There is no one more athletic than him in this draft, and Green is one of the top 3 most athletic players in the NBA. Morant, Giannis are the only ones that could be argued are more athletic. Edwards is right there but slightly below IMO. If you watch the games and the whole league there is no one that is clearly more athletic than Green. Zion would be but he's too fat and injured. From a skillset standpoint, you watched this man improve drastically over the course of the year. He can hit the three, he can hit the mid-range, and he can finish at the rim in electric fashion. He needs to gain a bit more muscle and he'll be an elite finisher at the rim. He already has a super quick first step. He averaged 30 PPG in his last 5 games for crying out loud. This guy is already the real deal and is only going to improve because he has the right mentality. in other words, lock this thread
