    Sorry he's hurt...again...

Has he ever had an injury free month?

Only once in the last 6 years has he been able to put together a full season. The man is just snake bit, it's always something.

Fractured fibula, shoulder, bad back, thumb ligament, broken finger, rib fracture, global pandemic.

Correa has played in 775 games out of 1058 for 73% Bregman has played 675 out of 896 for 75% but all anyone talks about is Correa being hurt.

I'm not entirely sure what kind of math you did, but I know it's wrong.

Last season was the first year Bregman missed any significant time.

Not sure where you got that number from, but Bregman has played in 84.8% (676 of 797) of his games including his injury last year.

Carlos has played in 77.7% (776 of 999).

This takes into account when they first saw action in their rookie years.

All players are going to get injured from time to time. The only concern with Carlos was the back which has all sorts of red flags on paper, but also has the fact that it never required surgery, has a top back guy (Boras’ guy) saying its fine (take that with some bias), and hasn’t been an issue since 2019.

If the back acts up again this year, there will be no long term deal. If he produces and the back again is a non-issue, there will be a team out there going 6-8 years more (or he just opts in with the Twins).

Don't understand all the dumping on Correa in this thread. One of the Astros' best players of this generation and a central figure to our playoff success. He played 7 years for the Stros and earned a total of $27 million (including his signing bonus). Unlike other free agents who have left, he would have preferred to stay, money being equal. He played with passion, hits for power, and his defense has been elite.

If he ends up in the Hall of Fame, I hope it's wearing an Astros cap. We'll see. In the mean time, the hate is misplaced. We can root for our current SS and still appreciate the contribution made by his predecessor.

Yeah, I don't get ******** on a player that was a huge part of this franchise's success, a great leader, and an all-time astro. He didn't leave on bad terms and is a likable guy. I'll be rooting for him for the remainder of his career when he isn't playing against us

    Baseball is a business.

I love Correa and always will.

But there are only so many spots on thevteam and only so much money to go around.

    Supply and demand.

Fortunately or unfortunately the Astros had a prospect that was ready to play SS in the majors.

That reduces Carlos' value to them.

Therefore the contract they needed to offer him was less than he wanted/was willing to accept.

That's baseball in the 21st century and one of the reasons so few players stay with a team more than 6-7 years anymore.

Of course this is a gamble, but it has worked out so far and credit Click for having the stones to put faith in Pena.

Now to truly extend the window of contention, use that savings and extend one or more of Alvarez, Tucker, or or Valdez.

Yep! He helped lead the team to its first (and so far only) championship. Correa is an Astros legend forever. **** like this doesn’t happen often for us as fans of Houston sports teams. I’ll always be grateful.
