True. I should have said “not a consensus too 100 guy”. I think Covid had the lists very screwy for a long time. I would have had him somewhere between 60-100 as value personally. He struck me as thought about on a level/tier below Correa/Bregman/SpringerTucker/Alvarez as a prospect (at least bat wise) but above Altuve, Lee,Leon, Moran, Teoscar, Castro, etc as prospects that debuted or close to debuted in the last decade or so for the Astros. All that should read as a top 100 prospect.
I criticized all the lists that had the Astros with 0 or 1 top 100 prospects. I think Brown, Lee, Peña, Whitley and Leon should all have been in the top 100 going into this year.

His barrel% has been higher than 10% for a while. It was 16% entering tonight which is elite.

Still early but the power looks real, 20 hrs seems inevitable if he stays healthy. Real stretch will be if he can catch Yordan rookie record of 27 and make a ROY push.

Pena leads all rookie position players in fwar. He had 1.2 going into tonight’s game. Next rookie is Steven Kwan with 0.7. There’s nothing about his numbers that point to them being artificial. In fact his numbers might be deflated by luck (.246 babip).

The ball he hit out tonight was a curveball on the outside part of the plate and he went out and yanked it to the deep part.

Pop isn't just good, it's probably second on the team. Balls are dying everywhere these days and he may still hit 30.

What the hell does it mean to have 10.6 barrels per plate appearance?

Click said before Opening Day that Pena had the best exit velocities of anyone on the team in Spring Training. I’m pleasantly surprised at how legit the pop has been.

It's a percentage stat, it means he hits the piss out of the ball in 10.6% of plate appearances.

I'd put his raw and game power behind Alvarez and Tucker going forward...though Pena has been the second best this year so far. Siri is probably close to Pena in raw power, but he doesn't hit the ball often enough for it to play in games with any frequency.

equally or more impressively, he saw curveball early in the count and adjusted. On the HR, his foot landed a touch early but he kept his balance and his hands back and flat out muscled that ball out to deep center. I couldn’t believe what I saw.

    Peña has
He’s currently first amongst SS and third overall in DRS. One of the best fielders you n the league.

So he leads in DRS and is tied for the lead in homers for SS? Is that right?
