It depends on the state. Restrictions in most states mandate what the circumstances are after different periods of time. For some it's 21 weeks, for others it's 24 weeks and for some it's the third trimester. It varies state by state.

For instance in Illinois after viability they may ONLY performed if the patient's life or health are in danger.

In California one of the states with the fewest restrictions Abortion is only an absolute right in two instances.
    1. The fetus is not yet viable.
    2. The patient's life is in danger.

That's it. So after viability the Mother's life or health must be in danger. Otherwise it isn't allowed. That is true in every state that I could find.

I think this thinking is misguided.

Democrats had no real thing to energize them now they have a huge red flag and it's not like all Republican voters agree with banning abortion so that could be a hidden lag with Republicans.

Any thought that this is just something that will fade away is hugely misguided.

    Its wishful thinking.

    I agree.

Democrats need a cause and this is huge thing especially with the Democratic base women, it also energizes the suburban woman vote.

Republicans can't help but overreach, catering to the fringe.

I sure hope you guys are right, because so far I don't feel democrats have celebrated anything they've done up to this point. So far the messaging has been poor. I know Democrats like to be the nice guy and not play dirty like Republicans, but if there is going to be any needles shifting for these midterms, they are going to have to jump in the mud and get dirty and this Roe v Wade issue will be the perfect avenue.

You are the ministry for disinformation with all the disinformation you post around here.

Have you actually got off the fence and expressed your views on abortion?

Nope, that would affect your trolling and you acting like you don't have an agenda.

Seems you have taken the O's playbook and ran with it.

I guess it depends on your definition of baby which varies from person to person.

My definition, a fetus can become a baby, but I wouldn't call it an official baby prior to viability. I know as humans (myself included, I just had my first kid in November 2021), we call them our babies from the minute we find out they are pregnant. Personally, I enjoyed calling her my alien baby, but I didn't refer to her as my fetus (would be weird), it doesn't mean I actually thought she was an actual baby, just knew the potential was there for her to become one (and she did :)).

    Why do Democrats need messaging?

We are supposed to be the ones who don't need somebody to think for us, and with how different democrats think from each other what message would be unifying.

I am not really targeting this at you, I just get sick and tired of hearing about democratic messaging, everything is readily available for people to pick and choose what democrats are about and what they have done and there is plenty of "messaging" it's about time we star looking at ourselves and stop blaming the Democratic Party for "messaging".

What kind of dirty do they need to play, what do you think will be effective?

So we now just become like Republicans and anything goes?
Nice try at deflection, there is no need to read anything closely, it's ****ing amazing that you actually care what people think of you, yet you still are a top 3 troll on this board.

And you claim to be an academic yet everyday you get up with the mindset of trolling this board it just boggles the mind.

What are you missing in your life that you need to troll this board to replace it?

It would be fascinating if it was not so sad.

Why are you asking this? It's already illegal to do that unless the mother's life or health is in danger. That is true without any Supreme Court ruling. That is true in states like New York and California as well as Texas and Alabama.

    This

It has been eye-opening, the clutching of pearls going on, the only surprise is that this has not happened before it's starting to look a lot like a false flag operation to have people ignore what is in the document and focus on the leak.

People been leaking **** since the 60's, but somehow the SC is sacred?

Blame McConnell for politicizing the court, I mean let's get real no republicans were up in arms about blocking nominations but it's the end of the world because somebody leaked something early?

These are not top secret documents or detrimental to national security.

I don't agree with Biden telling the FDA what to do.

I think Democrats need to be careful and stop with the rhetoric that we are going back to back alley abortions and coat hangers, there will still be access to abortions, yes it will be more difficult and impossible for some but no need for the horror stories.

Its easy to ignore the fanatic after a time.

    Question:
    1. Are there any people here that believe that with Roe V. Wade intact, it is legal for doctors to perform abortions after 25 weeks if there is no threat to the health and life of the mother?

I think the idea that this will galvanize Democrats and make a large difference at the polls in November is misguided.

It may make some slight difference but the overriding factor at the polls in November will be the economy, everyone is getting absolutely hammered by inflation, rising consumer good prices, a terrible stock market, housing costs, cars costs etc etc.

The same could be said for Democrats dreaming this is their golden ticket to reversing their expected losses in November. Wishful thinking eh?

some of the "trolling" as you call it ends up in lecture. I've been able to use the Elon Musk, football prayer case, and the Alito abortion decision over the past two weeks. The lectures practically write themselves.

you cut me Shrek, you cut me real deep just now
