The other 6'10 is not a C and Wood should have no bearing on whom the Rockets draft. Banchero is not a liability on defense, he is average at worst. I have no idea why you keep looking at Banchero as a rim protector, you are really reaching to tarnish the guy.
So would say both coach K and Popovich lost a step or two this past season. You may be over selling Duke.
Banchero is a big wing stop trying to claim he is more of a C/PF nobody is looking for a big wing/PF to be a rim protector. Your fascination with rim protection is bonkers, and only because you like somebody else to be the pick.
Anybody that claims Smith has the fewest holes in his game makes me think he is getting paid by Smiths agent, the complete lack of a dribble game is a HUGE hole. I think both Chet and Banchero have zero holes in their games, it's just all a matter of how they translate. I also have to think they do this for the retweets and shares because they know a lot of people really are enamored with Smiths potential he seems to be the fans favorite right after Holmgren. What exactly is a hole in Banchero's game? shooting the 3?
Wut? Sengun has more of a push shot, and Banchero has a classic shooting form. Both have very high level footwork, but Banchero's is more smooth and deliberate. It's becoming very evident you really don't know what the **** you are talking about. IQ is insanely better? The same guy who could not stop reaching on the perimeter and kept fouling? I love, love, love, Sengun but dude get a grip.
Most draft boards based in REALITY have Banchero no lower than 3rd ... here on Clutch Fans?? "ummmm i'd take him at 5 but no higher because TRUST ME BRO"
Edit: OH NOOOOOOO - the latest NBADRAFTNET mock has Ivey at 1 and Chet at 4!!! The sky is falling the sky is falling!!! https://www.nbadraft.net/nba-mock-drafts/
yes we'll have to disagree. I don't think he'd be considered the top pick if he were in this draft... and I really like alpy.
Paolo's foot speed will make it difficult for him to be anything more than a replace level defender in a switching scheme. His intensity tends to ebb and flow where as the other two guys seem to be much more locked in. None of these top three guys are perfect and any one of them would be awesome in Houston. Just hope for a top 3 pick and from there worry about the nit picks. A lot of draft coverage is focused on positives because guess what? These guys have never had an NBA regimen. Any of these holes are theoretically patchable. They are prospects for now and there's a reason why they aren't perfect.
Foot speed is not a hole in his game like shooting or ball handling. Those other guys can be more locked in because they were not asked to do as much on offense as Banchero and we are talking about a 19-year-old kids, I don't see an intensity issue, especially looking at what he did in the NCAA. I do agree Houston would be lucky to have any of the 3 but that does not mean we need to start creating things to downgrade these prospects and ignoring some real deficiencies. I don't think Holmgren is going to great switching either, he has some real issues with flexibility and lateral quickness.
Who are you? Do you know what a good jump shot looks like? Alp natural shot has great form. Footwork it’s not even a discussion. Alp has far greater footwork inside. Paolo has better feet in the face up game. And yes, basketball IQ favors Sengun by far. All of this hostility coming from a guy that lies about players to try and validate his point. Man, you sure are pretty sad.
Holmgren has high hips, which is a text book thing to point at as to say why he won't be able to cover the perimeter to his full capability. Holmgren's issue is less about flexibility and lateral quickness (his insane length covers both). His biggest issue, to me regarding being able to defend 1-5 is his stability. I believe once he strengthens that core, he will be as good as any 7 footer in the NBA at guarding the perimeter. The biggest secret to all of this is this is all arguing over something that A) we have no control of the where the pick lands b) we have no control of who the pick ends up being. People will continue to find issues in the guys they don't like because it bolsters their guy. In the end none of this has any weight.
Their mock has been like that for awhile. Ivey’s explosiveness is impressive, and particularly intriguing seeing Ja’s recent success. I’d be happy with Ivey on the team, our backcourt would be impossible to contain.
Sure I could see it. (I dont think Stone takes Ivey at 1, but who knows?) Im just going to have fun with the personnel experts on here moving forward. The circular reasoning is just funny to me.
Their draft has been the most "unique" for a while. They still have Johnny Davis as a top-5 pick, Dyson Daniels hasn't cracked top-20, and *gasp* Shaedon Sharpe isn't even top-10 despite his 87" vertical. Blasphemers!
So you want Banchero AND Dieng???? You really hate defense amirite? Especially rim protection and dog mentality.
Banchero at 6'10 255 is a 4 and small ball 5. And I've said often that Banchero is top 3, top 4 draft pick at worst. I'm really vicious in my hatred for the player, the tarnisment is almost as bad as insisting a 6'10 wing with elite shooting and a plus defender MUST have better handles to deserve a top 3 rating amirite?
I just don't see what some of you do with Sengun .... Yes, he's a rotation piece. No, he's not a foundation piece. Poor outside shooter Poor defender & Not a rim protector. High turnover rate Reaches far too much and ends up in foul trouble. Yes, I expect him to improve but even then, he's so limited physically that I feel like he will be overmatched in that department more often than not with opponents longer and more explosive. Yes, he makes some special plays offensively and he hustles his ass off ..... but the ceiling to me is Louis Scola. To me, that's a backup player on a good team. Stone took a swing and dropped in a base hit ..... he'll stick in the league a long time but I don't see superstar potential. I also disagree that no one else has that kinda upside. Josh Christopher has all the physical tools and the work ethic to be great on both ends of the court.
