When you get down to it, the best QBs in the NFL came from schools all over the map. I guess closest thing to a “QB U” these days was Lincoln Riley’s OU and Clemson
Texans fans are the most hopeful and optimistic of the Houston franchises I’ll give them that! No matter who gets picked or where it’s a good pick! Good stuff breath of fresh air.
It is good that some of the usual suspects (Verbal Christ/Mario V) are hating on our picks. They’re usually so wrong about everything that it’s a good thing.
It’s a creative way to disassociate. How about this let’s take the BEST Buckeye QB ever? Should increase our odds no?
Whatbif he regresses this year? Another year just because? How many years do you skip blue chips hoping for the best? Davis plays great next season it’s all moot.
If available I would love for them to take that Utsa cb Tariq woolen no reason just seems like a good late round chance taking pick
I believe he will surprise quite a few people. Had he stayed in college he’d be far and away the top QB in this class. And technically speaking Mills was a blue chip, 5 star HS recruit. Speaking on next year, I’d take Bryce Young over Stroud, but I don’t think next years class is as good as they are hyping it up to be.
Again, the best RB in franchise history was an UDFA. Teams don't need to waste premium picks on the position. You can draft a Leonard Fournette type with a top 5 pick in the draft and still not solve your RB position for more than 2 or 3 years....or be signficinatly better off during those 2 or 3 years than teams who picked guys much later. RB simply is not a premium position in the NFL these days. You can take just about any NFL caliber RB, put them behind a plus O line, and get VERY similar production to the best guys behind an average O line.
Thats fair you have a right to like who you like nothing wrong with that. I think Stroud will overtake the college football rankings at QB this year and next draft everyone may be singing a different tune. I hope you’re right and Davis Mills proves to be the franchise QB it would surely expedite the rebuild.
Regarding Davis Mills: Easy to impress year 1 when you have nearly zero expectations, but he definitely didn’t flop. That organizational and fan base patience will erode as time passes and expectations rise. Lack of mobility at QB in today’s NFL is a liability, though some immobile QBs still find success. Definitely too early for strong opinions either way. For now, Davis is a rookie contract at the league’s most expensive position and the weakest QB draft in more than a decade bought him more time in a league that is always looking for “the next one” if they don’t have a top third of the league filling the most important position in the game
