I think i would go Winfrey in the 4th if available. Would love to address rb but none of the guys left really do it. I would prefer to trade for a young backup who has performed in a limited role... not a lot of separation between backs at this point... You can never have too many big fat guys who can stuff the run...
Winfrey is probably the safest pick right now. Tampa will almost certainly take him. If you want a RB, it might be a good time to take Spiller. Either would be nice to have.
Crazy thing is that the value is at corner, imo. Give me Spiller, or give me Woolen, McCollum, Coby Bryant, or Josh Jobe. I really see Jobe as a sleeper. All in on Spiller though. Feel like we have to get him. Another local kid.
You're probably right but if someone comes up to steal Winfrey from us there's 1 of the top qb's still left (Howell) and we might be able to get some more draft capital ourselves out of someone. But Winfrey really fits Lovie's scheme well (he's best at penetrating and shooting gaps). Although then we wouldn't get either edge left (Barno, Robinson) and I really wanted at least 1 edge out of this draft. Not sure if I prefer Winfrey-whatever later or Barno/Robinson then Thomas Booker later (another penetrating dt). Oh well pretty good draft today. Nice to have a competent gm for a change!
Drank too much wine now I'm wide awake watching runningback highlights and combine performances. Dameon Pierce, Kevin Harris and Pierre Strong Jr are interesting. Would be cool with either one but I'm really intrigued with Strong
At this point if Winfrey is gone i would start going for 2 running backs to hedge... pick one here and pick another by trading up at the right time. Then sort it out at camp... maybe you pick a second one that can play some slot so they might find some additional value...
I looked at the Bucs roster... they will take Winfrey unless we comp them a pic. Vea is their only tackle that's relatively young... they just paid him.. complimenting him with someone on a rookie deal would be ideal for them... Possible they go qb but i doubt they hedge on Trask at this stage with a useful player who can get reps sitting there...
I'm all for taking a running back with this next pick, but taking two feels like overkill given how few picks are remaining and how many backs they already have. They have other holes to fill, and there will be other quality players on the board.
Do we really need Winfrey right here? I'm happy with Blacklock and Lopez. I'd rather have Spiller. Hopefully we don't telegraph the pick though, like we did with Hall, and have someone trade up in front of us.
I just think at this point most of the options have warts... they can't catch or they can't block or they have limited experience, etc. I'm not losing sleep if a 5th rounder can't make the team and you have to practice squad them...
Unless we trade, we are the second pick of the day. Winfrey DI has been mentioned. Any bust rumors on Enagbare ED where you wouldn't just take one or the other and be happy? Both went into the draft as Starter material (80ish and above.)
What I like about Nick in the draft is he does what a lot of us would do with the trade backs to trade back in. And what I really like about Lovie is he has always been opened minded with rookies. It doesn't matter if you're a 4th round cornerback from UT in Vasher or a mid first rounder like Tommy Harris. If you bring it, you will start. quite the change from "rookies don't know anything"
