Eth to PoS is basically a can being kicked down the road, I'm seeing reports of 2023 now... I'd like it to hit but I think 2023 might be more realistic than these 2021/22 dates we keep passing...
Well, I'm looking to buy a 3080 to build a new system, but will probably wait until I know more about the 40-series cards and the Ryzen 7000/Zen 4 architecture to build it.
any link? latest i see is june 2022, that's just a month or 2 away. IF true that should really send GPU prices crashing.
They delayed it until later this year (towards the end probably). It was announced a few days ago by Tim Beiko. Most GPU prices have been coming down for a couple of months. You can get AMD GPUs (mid-to-higher-end) around MSRP many times. nVidia's GPUs have been coming down fast, too. The only reason many of these are still priced as high as they are is probably because retailers want to squeeze them for as much as possible. Even Beiko suggested miners not buy any mining-specific hardware :
Depends on your time horizon…but I could see them having a Facebook like relief rally after earnings considering how beaten down it is.
Per Dr's post above, I'm thinking he's probably right - closer to the end of the year, but I know I saw rumors somewhere already mentioning early 2023. I'm just getting bored w/ the same story of "any month now", I am also interested to see if one of these other coins replaces eth for gpu miners or if it really continues to lower the prices like a normal gpu cycle. I mean I feel once eth mining is gone another coin replaces gpu mining but hopefully won't be as popular, making things a little more stable. obviously lockdowns/low stock could create another crazy scenario with the gpu trend but I like the way it's going right now.
thanks. neverending saga. When PoW ends there will be a glut in the 2nd hand market, which should crash prices even further.
I always wonder who folks are selling to during these panic dumps... @Dr of Dunk ....Damn these two hate ROBINHOOD a LOT lol.. And Buffett’s buying the dip Berkshire scooped up $51.1 billion of US stocks during the market sell-off in Q1. Of course, Buffett would never call it “buying the dip” because he doesn’t believe in timing the market. Speaking of timing, Buffett said he and his BFF Charlie Munger “haven’t the faintest idea what the stock market is gonna do when it opens on Monday.” So what did he buy? He’s certainly bullish on the energy sector. In Q1, Berkshire acquired a big stake in Occidental Petroleum and juiced its stake in Chevron (which is now the company’s fourth-largest holding). And…video games? It’s unlikely that Buffett has ever touched an Xbox controller, but Berkshire Hathaway is now the largest shareholder of Activision Blizzard after amassing a 9.5% stake. Activision stock has jumped more than 15% after Microsoft agreed to acquire it in January. The slow cooker’s other hot takes Buffett said the influx of new traders buying and selling stocks during the pandemic has turned the market into “almost totally a casino” in which large American companies have become “poker chips.” Munger lashed out at the trading app Robinhood specifically for promoting the gambling dynamic. Citing Robinhood stock’s 86% plunge from its peak, the 98 year old said, “God is getting just.”
I hope so - so everything becomes more normal. I have been watching https://whattomine.com/ and am curious once eth is gone if something else might take its place, but if they do then it'd mean lower profits with more miners/high difficulty spike, so hopefully... Eth - PoS will really be the end of this craziness. I'm basically watching it to see, and also look forward to PoS, so I definitely didn't mean to make it sound like I like PoW, just getting tired of it always being delayed.
Still not sure if he despises it as much as bitcoin. lol. Munger definitely doesn't hold back. I wanted to go to the gathering this year since it'll be Buffett's last, I think, but decided against it. I wonder what kind of "gamification" Robinhood is using these days. They got rid of the confetti a while back, I think... maybe they're using "GAME OVER".
