The only player that I really want them to take tonight is Breece Hall, other than that best receiver and defensive end available. Logan Hall or Cameron Thomas would be cool
That's fine, be worried I guess. I'm not, he's a beast and nobody is going to be questioning this pick once he shows his worth.
Dude, I'm salivating... He has the athleticism to be an absolute steal. Of course, he could be busty too, so obviously there is a risk attached.
Was so intrigued by Penning, elite athlete at that size. Terrible football player, gets beat and then pulls guys to the ground
But that's just it right? He had great measurables and was constantly beat by smurfs. He got DESTROYED at the senior bowl. He's worth a flier in the 3rd, maybe the second, but I can't stand that kid. He currently SUCKS AT FOOTBALL. Maybe he figures it out, I wouldn't bet on it. Saints had a horrible, horrible first round imo. Olave was 6th or 7th on my board, and Penning might as well be Breno Giacomini in my book.
Man, Stingley, Nelson and King is a solid corner group imo. Add Woolen as a project and move Lonnie back to safety (and draft another) secondary might come around
He's so damn intriguing. 6'4 205 4.26 Played at a winning program, albeit small school. He's a project but a damn exciting one.
Unfortunately Lonnie has no future as a safety. I've given up that dream. He looks the part physically but he just can't play that position. He may not have a future at CB either. Couldn't King play some safety? Did we **** up not just taking Hamilton? I feel like it's inevitable he becomes a monster in BAL. I really like Green tho. NEED MOAR PICKS.
If we stay at #37, this is a guy I like a lot. Really need 3-4 solid WRs and he's got the speed, length and hands to be a difference maker.
I really just didn't like the quote. Everyone knows how good he can be when healthy. Why spend so much time scouting him? And did other players not get scouted enough because they spent so much time on him? The quote makes it sound like they had backed themselves into a corner. As long as they did due diligence on the injury, I'm good with the pick. I would have preferred to see a comment on that.
I've pondered us taking a guy like Corral at #37 to compete and develop with Davis Mills. Not sure how we feel about him or the other QBs, but he's the one I'd maybe think about. If we stay at 37 I'd love Pierce (WR), Hall (DE), Faalele (OT) or trade down a bit and take Walker (RB), Chenal (LB). Lot's of great options, and I'm likely wrong on anyone we'll target.
I was wowed by him initially and like that Chris Simms had him as his #2, but upon review there are some things that bother me about him as a WR... https://www.profootballnetwork.com/christian-watson-ndsu-wr-nfl-draft-scouting-report-2022/ "He needs to remain focused on the catch throughout the process. This could also be a byproduct of a propensity to rely on his body to secure the catch rather than routinely plucking the ball out of the air with his hands. There were examples of the ball sailing through his hands in what you’d consider relatively easy catching opportunities. Although he is an excellent athlete in most regards, Watson isn’t always sudden in movements. He can be guilty of rounding off his routes rather than being a twitchy athlete." With that said, if we miss out on Pierce or Skyy Moore in 2nd, then would absolutely consider him as a developmental guy in 3rd. Small school guys that body catch and aren't sudden have a lot to overcome at the next level. He could do it, but I just wouldn't risk a 2nd on him, but that's just my thoughts.
Agreed. Typically don't read too much into what GMs say but almost sounds like Caserio was trying to convince himself of the pick. Rest of the comments as well... "He's been a productive player, was a productive player early on in his career," Caserio said. "Had some bumps in the road there in '20 and '21, but in the end, we felt comfortable with Derrick, we think he's a good player, kind of fits the profile of what we're trying to do."
