Elon fans are just like Trump fans they are just fans because he is successful and bucks the government - but they ignore, just like Trump fans, all the bad things he does, or how he creates a toxic work environment - he is not someone to be looked up to as an example of a great man..... He is a great businessman, but in person is quite different..... I can appreciate his business acumen and notice that he is not paying taxes, that he created a racist work place, that he can be a major whiny dick to people. I don't think you can overlook the bad, when commenting on the good... DD
A couple of things on this. I am not and have not been a Republican for decades. Biden has so far kept the US from committing troops or engaging US military directly into the situation. For that, I give him credit. Kudos to Joe Biden for so far keeping us (barely) out of WWIII. And as much as he pretty clearly does not appear to actually be in control of most of his own administration right now, it is my sense that he is the one holding the line on this, at least so far. A very large part of the Washington establishment, Democrats and Republicans, and the corporate media have been openly and aggressively pushing to escalate this situation into what will be a full-on war between Russia and NATO, or in other words WWIII. The decisions being made by the Biden regime are increasingly crossing the line of what we would regard as acts of war against Russia. It is not credible for anyone to think that there are different standards of what Russia interprets as acts of war against them and what we would regard in the same circumstances as acts of war against us. The strategy that is needed here is to seek peace, not to escalate the situation, as the Washington establishment and the rest of the usual suspects are currently doing. To the extent that Biden or any of them are aligning themselves with this escalation strategy, they deserve to be condemned and reputed. Escalation is the current strategy of the US and it is an epic disaster in the making. All of these people deserve the strongest criticism for this deranged policy direction. We should not go to war with Ukraine, no matter what. Period.
Exactly. and it will lead to a bigger war. With Russia threatening to go into Maldova now, it is getting closer and closer to NATO sending in Troops and kicking Russia back into their own territory - they are weak, their weapons old, their resolve is low, just conscripts...... It is time to roll into the UKRAINE, and then roll about 50 miles into Russia - and force them back - tell them we will leave Russia when we are sure they won't attack. You don't APPEASE a bully, you punch them in the eye! DD
Well said, ATW, although there are those here still trying to make excuses for Putin and the atrocities committed by elements of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine, as hard as that is to believe. That, or they immediately change the subject to domestic issues within the United States, legitimate topics that belong in other threads. On a lighter note?
Ukraine Brings First War-Crimes Charges Against Russian Soldiers in Bucha "Ukrainian authorities filed criminal charges Thursday against 10 individual Russian soldiers accused of taking civilians hostage and mistreating them in the Kyiv suburb of Bucha—the first such move by prosecutors investigating possible war crimes by Moscow’s forces. All 10 were noncommissioned officers and privates from Russia’s 64th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade, one of the units that took part in the monthlong occupation of Bucha. In late March, after the Russian military retreated, Ukrainian authorities said they discovered more than 400 dead civilians, their bodies packed in mass graves or left splayed on streets and sidewalks. Many had bullet wounds and some had their wrists bound behind their backs, Ukrainian authorities said. Some residents of the town also have told investigators and The Wall Street Journal that Russian troops held them captive, denied them food and tortured them. Since the Russian withdrawal, Ukrainian investigators and prosecutors have been combing Bucha for evidence and interviewing witnesses. “Our goal is to identify every criminal who committed a crime, for every crime to find its perpetrator,” said Ruslan Kravchenko, Bucha’s chief prosecutor." https://www.wsj.com/articles/ukrain...oldiers-in-bucha-11651148489?mod=hp_lead_pos8
Russia doesn't care, they don't want diplomacy they want capitulation - NATO needs to strike them where it hurts. You can't appease a bully.... DD
33 Billion? Israel gets 3.x billion a year... That's what Alabama spent last year on it's budget. Is inflation doing it's thing, or are we sending in Blackwater commandos again while claiming the war has ended? ****ing military industrial complex has its way with profligate spending even when we have no open wars to fight.
That makes a lot more sense. I guess Europe can offer moral support and not b**** about refugees flowing into their borders.
