lol, once again the denseness of the enlightened . . . the sense of humor required is not so much to find the Babylon Bee piece "funny," but rather having the simple common sense to have let it slide whether they found it "funny" or "offensive"

So "sense of humor" has nothing to do with it. Got it. You meant "common sense" -- which in this case you are defining as "Just let it go, no matter how offensive it might be to anyone".

Yes. Unless it's breaking the law (which, quite clearly, it did not).

I don't think you will ever understand free speech. There is a long history of posts which show you just don't.

Twitter should have been more like Charles Barkley and less like Kevin Durant

Twitter suspending someone or banning someone is not an attack on free speech, no matter their reason. If you think so you should study the subject of free speech again and start by looking at some SCOTUS regarding it.

lol, clearly you have missed the discussion in the censorship threads about the issue of free speech BOTH as it pertains to government censorship and the First Amendment, and censorship and free speech issues that arise in other, non-governmental settings. I suspect it is you who needs to "study the subject of free speech" and you might start by looking at those threads

Lol...Why would I look at threads and not how SCOTUS has ruled on free speech issues throughout US history?

Yeah man, I'm really going to look through 25 pages of posts to get to whatever point you're trying to make here.

Did you study constitutional law and are you admitted to the bar?

No, but I know that Twitter suspending Babylon Bee isn't a violation of their free speech.

Hey, try posting p*rn here and see what happens! When you're banned, complain about 'free speech'.

all you have to do is look at the first two posts in the first thread

and your continued reference to SCOTUS just shows how damn ignorant you are on the subject . . . pardon my French :p

Oh, you should quote a few of them.

I suppose you'd agree that understanding free speech is different from having a religious attachment to it as a core value.

Elon Musk argued that free speech is vital for a functioning democracy. He is right, with the caveat that there are other things that are also vital for a functioning democracy, and an absolutist free speech position is not necessarily conducive to those things.

Anyone who is serious about this should ask themselves: if Twitter removed all hate speech rules on its platform, how would it be different today? For example:

Would the discussion be more or less polarized?

Will people be exposed to many different perspectives, or would you instead get a bunch of ideological bubbles where people rarely read opposing perspectives?

Would minorities be as engaged with it or less engaged?

Would users find it easier or harder to get factual information?

Well you linked two threads for the appropriate response was "I'm not reading that."

But since you targeted the posts I did read them...in one of these posts it says that the counter to restrictive platforms is alternative platforms...which I agree...that's how its supposed to work...but how does Twitter suspending an account violate its free speech?

Can you or can't you post p*rn on Clutchfans?
