If available, would you take Neal at 13? I know I would... I'd also be tempted to trade back a few picks and pick up some extra capital to either still draft Neal or let someone else who didn't think they'd have a shot at him draft him...
Nope, you can draft for need once you have most of a team put together. When, like the Texans, you have holes at ~18 positions, you absolutely take the best talent regardless of anything. 2023, FA and draft, is when they should look to fill in the holes on the roster and start being competitive.
The only thing I don't like about it is the simulator I am using had a flaw that would allow me to trade pick 7 and 245 for the Panthers 6. Then trade it back with an extra 2nd and then repeat until they ran out of draft picks. Same thing with moving up to get Jacksonvilles 1; 2023-1 and 2024-1. Then after the pre draft trade, you could immediately trade the picks back to them minus the future picks when they were on the clock.
I agree. That's why I indicate need was only a tie breaker if players were evenly evaluated. This was a new concept back when Bum Bright was GM for the Cowboys
Would love him, but think he's first WR off the board at #8 or #10. May have to trade with NYG at #7 to get him if he's our guy.
Agree at #3! Leaning Ekwonu who would be great at LG and could slide over in a couple of years if Tunsil leaves. Jameson is only WR I'd go after in RD 1, if he's gone I look for guys like Skyy Moore or Alec Pierce in 2nd or 3rd. I'm a Walker fan, but also really like James Cook in 3rd or 4th. He's not a bell cow back, but he's a weapon.
Could make #3 more valuable for teams desperate for OL (Icky or possibly Cross though that's way too high for him--I believe).
