Child Dies After Grandma Forces Her to Drink Whiskey as Mom Watches Her 28-year-old mother Kadjah Record and 53-year-old grandmother Roxanne Record were initially angry after the girl took a sip from the bottle of Canadian Mist whiskey, the newspaper reported, citing booking documents. The grandmother then forced the child to drink the rest of the bottle, which was "over half full" with the child on her knees. The police said that investigators learned that the mother was "present and failed to stop" the grandmother "from providing the alcohol," and later placed the child in a bathtub. The coroner's office showed that China Record died of acute alcohol poisoning. Police said that the little girl's blood alcohol level was .680 percent when officers arrived at her house Thursday morning. https://www.newsweek.com/child-dies...-her-drink-whiskey-mom-watches-police-1700337 This is a horrific case of child abuse. Save the taxpayers' money and just give them the death penalty. Child abusers are the worst!
Ah, the policy point with the biggest overlap of agreement among our resident gasbags from Both Sides: a vengeful State keeps us safe, and more importantly, righteous.
The stupidity of people. And of course it is in Louisiana..... Ignorance is not a good thing, people. DD
Well, she damn sure ain't gonna be stealing Grannies sippin whiskey anymore. That's fer sure! 'cause implementing Biblical-style punishment worked out so well for Grandma. That having been said, better than the alternative where someone tries to justify Gran-gran's parenting chops.
Or, you know, the alternative where we avoid a visceral response and give every defendant a fair trial.
So what would a fair trial be in a case like this of horrific child abuse where the killers told them what they did? Letting her defend her actions by saying she didn't mean to kill the little child by forcing her to drink enough alcohol to kill a woman three times her size? Saying that the four year old should have been punished for drinking something Grandma did without asking permission? Child abuse to the point of mutilating or killing a child is unexcusable. Children can't defend themselves, especially ones that young. Give her a second chance to kill or harm another innocent child? Those types are the most sadistic and twisted humans on earth. What they do is inexcusable.
I'm also a person who cares about children who endure abuse to the point of death by sadistic people. Yeah, I feel those types deserve a different justice than others. I get sick of hearing about all the child abusers in our country. It's like drunk drivers who get off on a minimum sentence and do it again and again until they kill someone. This is much much worse because to intentionally harm a little child requires a very evil mind.
It wasn't only oppressive politicians, 6th Amendment was also designed so that people who were outraged can't just go about and dole punishment to people they think are straight up guilty. If you've ever thought the media represented something (case for invading Iraq for one) then you know how easy it is to transmit falsehoods, even pre-Twitter/FB. So what's the harm that these people get their day in court? On the chance that they might be freed? How is that different than allowing public stonings again?
I start to get skeptical anytime someone says a person doesn't deserve a trial. @deb4rockets don't become what you disagree with...
I think child abusers deserve a different system. That's it. What do you perceive happening in their years of waiting for that day in court, and how do you see any justification or defense of what they did? Funny that you mention that about stonings. I remember years ago when I was stationed in Beeville, Texas when they had a poll on the news and people unanimously voted to keep that old Texas law in the books.
I don't see child abusers as humans. They are animals. Animals don't get trials. You can support child abusers getting treated like the rest of us if you want. I won't.
