I would just like to take this moment to thank financial guru @Major for taking the time to explain to all of us peasants in a completely non-condescending way how financial markets work, since we all have no experience with finance or markets, and we "do not understand how stocks work". It's so "funny" to see how we were all so dumb. Thank you, @Major.

Also, thank you, @Major, for looking out for poor Elon Musk, hoping he sold his shares before he would just stand there like an idiot with no financing plan.

I will now wait for the conservative meltdown @Major predicted, in his infinite wisdom.

    Called it. @MojoMan

Tested it. Indeed, after liking his pinned tweet, it automatically got "unliked" again. More proof that Twitter needs change.

It's going to be something watching Conservatives turn on Elon when they find out they can't harass gay people on Twitter without consequences and that he really wasn't for 'Free Speech' as they imagined it.

So in your warped version of reality "Conservatives" are all about "harassing gay people"?

How disrespectful is that of a very large group of people.

This was a nice try but who again has been complaining that Babylon Bee was suspended for harassing a transwoman?

Oh yeah because you've never mocked liberals before...

Assuming that transwoman is gay is out of line.

This is like when Microsoft tried to buy Yahoo for $45 billion only for it to fall through and Yahoo was eventually gobbled up for $5 billion and is now a shell. Twitter (and hopefully Facebook) will be AOL and Yahoo of the 2020s. Web 2.0 is dead. Long live Web 2.0.

    Ok.

People seem to think that internet websites are too big to fail. Saw this a lot about Parler and Gab failing a lot of people blamed Twitter for being too big to take on ignoring that those sites failed because of technical issues but also that absolute 'free speech' is not very profitable. It's toxic for brands which is where any platform will get most of their money.

There are some changes Elon can make that would make the platform better, will he do it? Time will tell. I do think Twitter will be okay but it can certainly fail and has been on the decline for some time now, this could speed that up if Elon makes radical changes for the worst.

Twitter isn't a necessity. The world can go on happily without it and once people leave a thing and realize they don't need it then it is harder to bring them back. Time will tell as it always does but if Elon buys it and makes these big sweeping changes my guess is people will actually leave and Twitter will be another old website that is dead.

Facebook is a lot more durable especially since they are investing in VR and that could be a huge boon for them if that tech does turn out to be a next medium. All twitter offers right now is a place to connect with other people and there are many websites for that. It could be that Elon has plans for Twitter to be more than that.

    People are weird about this.

Some are acting like they just won a prize with Elon Musk buying twitter and others are acting like the world is going to end.

Neither is going to happen. Twitter is an aging media form that has seen it's relevance fall and will continue to fall.

Elon Musk has said some questionable things in the past, but he is also a notorious troll and doesn't run his businesses like he often tweets or talks. People on both sides take what Musk says too serious.

Twitter isn't going to suddenly help Trump either as people already know how they feel about him and those that are similar.... so it doesn't really help or hurt him.

At the end of the day a brilliant but starting to age businessman bought a media platform that he loves.... no different than a middle aged man going and getting a sports car.

We saw similar concern over Bezos buying a newspaper giant.

    Whatever.

More like this...... he is a geriatric lightening rod that is a known quantity. Everyone already has an opinion on him for good or bad.
