Howard is an above avg OT is where we will have to agree to disagree. He's an avg OT at best, that struggles to stay healthy. IMHO
Center is the one single position on the DL/OL where size matters the least. They are traditionally smaller than OG, and have to have the brains to make all the pre-snap OL calls at the line and be mobile after the snap. If he's as good as they say, his size shouldn't play into it (he's 6'2" and 300, not exactly small)
Agreed Linderbaum is being touted as a sure fire can’t miss elite C. Take him at 13 or better yet trade back up to the bottom of the first for him. Gardner - 3 Hamilton - 13 Linderbaum - trade up
I really don’t want Kayvon, serious Clowney vibes. Give me Hutch, Walker, Johnson or even Kalaftis over him
Seems like a lot of you are wanting secondary guys with the first round picks. My feelings have always been best player available. Just don't reach. That being said, the most important thing next season is not winning games. It is determining whether or not Mills is the guy. What I don't want is to have a lack of weapons and the same lame offensive line not do a good job protecting him causing a giant question mark at the end of the season as to whether Mills is the guy.... IF best player available ends up like this I won't be mad: # 3 Neal/Ekwonu # 13 Jameson Williams/Drake London/Garrett Wilson/Chris Olave # 37 Hall/Walker III
#3 Sauce #13 best WR 2nd round best IOL..Green/Zion 2 3rd round picks best pass rusher ojabo??/best LB 2 4th rounders best TE (Kolar here hopefully) Best RB (Kyren Williams please Something like that maybe
I believe only two cornerbacks have EVER been taken at 1.03 and none have been taken at 1.01 or 1.02 in the draft. If the decision truly is Thibodeaux vs Sauce, then I think the Texans will take Thibodeaux. Not only due to positional value, but some have said Thibodeaux is the top talent in the draft. The rumors about character concerns are scary as hell, given the Texans' recent issues with low character players. I am in the Neal/Ekwonu camp for 1.03 and the best WR/CB/DE available at 1.13.
Just out of curiosity, what is it about Kayvon that gives you JD vibes? His lack of a motor seems way overblown and the only other knock on him that I've seen is that he's not some football lovin' Jesse type of guy like JJ Watt because he has interests other than football. Is that really enough to rank someone like Karlaftis or Johnson over him?
Honest truth? Yes. I want someone who lives and breathes football at the number 3 pick. He has physical tools, but the production and reports of “football character” aren’t promising. Maybe it’s not fair to him, but Clowney left a bad impression.
That's fair. I've gone back and forth on him this entire draft process. And I've definitely gotten the Clowney vibes as well at times. Lately I've been leaning more toward taking him at #3 though. Seems to me that maybe the draft industry is just overthinking it with Kayvon since they've had basically three years to dissect/analyze him as a top draft prospect compared to someone like Walker or Hutchinson who just recently sprung onto the "top draft prospects" scene comparatively speaking. Should be interesting to see how it all plays out!
Probably just the kind of rumors that get thrown around draft week, but if true the Texans should run to the podium immediately after to draft Walker
