This is one I'm very sympathetic to Mike Tyson. From what I've seen of the video the other passenger kept on badgering Tyson. https://sports.yahoo.com/video-show...nger-after-apparent-harassment-193830881.html Video shows Mike Tyson pummeling plane passenger after apparent harassment It appears harassing Mike Tyson and throwing a water bottle at him is a very bad idea. Who knew? Video of the former heavyweight champion boxer pummeling a fellow passenger in a plane went viral Thursday, with TMZ reporting the incident to have taken place Wednesday night on a JetBlue flight from San Francisco International Airport to Florida. Tyson reportedly walked off the plane seconds after the confrontation. TMZ presents the video as a play in three acts: the passenger appearing to harass Tyson while sitting behind him, Tyson in the middle of introducing said passenger to his fists and the passenger seemingly making a mock pouting face while sporting some cuts on the side of his head. That video show the entirety of what happened, but TMZ claims a witness said the passenger was heavily intoxicated and wouldn't stop trying to goad Tyson after the boxer took a selfie with his friend. The man reportedly received medical attention and spoke with police after the incident. A San Francisco Police Department spokesperson told ESPN's Mike Coppinger that he provided "minimal details" to the police and refused to cooperate with the investigation. Tyson's camp claimed the passenger had not only harassed Tyson, but threw a water bottle at him, per ESPN: "Unfortunately, Mr. Tyson had an incident on a flight with an aggressive passenger who began harassing him and threw a water bottle at him while he was in his seat," a spokesperson for Tyson told ESPN on Thursday. It has been 17 years since Tyson's last professional boxing match, but the former champion has stayed active, most recently facing fellow champion Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match in November 2020.
In another time/place, this story goes away and nobody hears another thing, if anything. The only thing ever heard again are from his buddies at the bar years later reminding him how he got his ass beat by Mike Tyson. Today, we have a skinny white kid telling Mike Tyson that he is a "peasant" ...and the kid gets internet fame and will probably get a cash settlement. It's a strange world. Thing is, in other times not long ago, Mike Tyson goes to jail for this ...again. So I guess this is an improvement?
The kids lucky he's not critically injured, considering it was a closed fist. Mike was probably holding back as to not kill the guy. What a drunkin idiot...
I don't know. He could have asked for an upgraded seat or had the passenger moved. It's funny. But there was a much better way to handle this. It's gonna cost him. Both of them are asses, but Tyson has an atrocious rap sheet. He's literally served time for several serious crimes and the IRS is on his ass for 38M, let alone 40 other incidents where he attacked people.
Mike Tyson beats up drunk passenger Florida Man Florida man punched by Mike Tyson on JetBlue plane is identified as a 36-year-old thief and fraudster who has served nearly three years in prison The man who was punched by Mike Tyson after allegedly harassing the boxing legend aboard a JetBlue airplane at the San Francisco Airport has been identified – and he has a lengthy criminal record. Melvin George Townsend III of Punta Gorda, Florida, has served 20- and 15-month prison sentences for a variety of crimes, including possession of Oxycodone, burglary, grand theft, fraud, and trafficking stolen property, according to a records search. The 36-year-old stole a trailer in 2018 by trespassing and hitching it to his pickup, reported TMZ, which was the first media outlet to identify him. Townsend was last released from a Florida prison in July of 2020 after serving 15 months of a 25-month sentence for that incident and his use of a fraudulent personal ID. He previously did time for trafficking stolen property in 2009 and 2010. Video from Wednesday's assault shows Tyson punching Townsend before the JetBlue flight had taken off from San Francisco to Fort Lauderdale, leaving the Florida man with a bloody forehead. However, a representative for the Brooklyn-born boxer claims he was reacting to Townsend, an unruly passenger who had been harassing him and actually threw a water bottle at Tyson. 'Unfortunately, Mr. Tyson had an incident on a flight with an aggressive passenger who began harassing him and threw a water bottle at him while he was in his seat,' a representative for Tyson told DailyMail.com in an email.
I agree and don't understand how people forget what a horrible person Tyson has been, however in this instance, that dude deserved it. Instant karma.
100% on Tyson's side here. Also, it's obvious that Mike was pulling his punches here. He just wanted to rough him up a bit. Violence should be a last resort, especially if you are an adult. Don't wanna risk lawsuits, criminal charges etc. With that said...some fools REALLY deserve to get their asses kicked. Including this passenger. Hopefully he got the message. Tyson himself said awhile back that social media made some folks way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it. He's right.
