One thing about Matijevic getting called up is that there just aren’t many good hitters in Houston’s system that hit from the left side. Colin Barber is the only top prospect who hits left handed. Pena, Lee, Leon, Whitaker, and Perez are all righties, so Matijevic and Barber might be the only current lefty prospects who project into future everyday roles. This is another good reason to extend Tucker/Alvarez.

Ernesto Jaquez followed Calderon with 4 absolutely dominant innings: H, 2 BB, 10 K. The hit and two walks all came in his first inning of work.

Three Corpus Christi pitchers combined on a one-hitter in a 2-0 win over Arkansas.

    Jimmy Endersby: 5.2 IP, H, 2 BB, 5 K
Devin Conn: 2.1 IP, 4 K (perfect outing)
    Joe Record: IP, BB

Two of the 3 BB came in his final inning. Ended up surrendering the go-ahead run. Last year he did start to run into problems going through the lineup the third time. I honestly think he could have helped the club out in some way even late last year, but it may not be the best idea to just rush him in. Still, I hope to see him with the big league club sometime in May or June. Walks can be an issue for him at times, but he just needs to trust his stuff. I am VERY high on him and am one of the presidents of the "Do Not Trade Hunter Brown Club."

There’s certainly only been a handful of guys come thru Houston’s system in the last 15 years that have the kind of stuff Brown has. I think he still has some development left in order to profile as a true top of the rotation starter who can handle lineups a 3rd time through, but that may not take long. I would not have minded trading Brown as recently as this offseason, but seeing the clips of him from this season and looking at his numbers, he should be off the table.

Thinking the sinkers and changeups are actually changeups.

Seems like a good situation to get him up and hanging out with JV for the next two years.

Very vertical. Should be great against lefties.

You can tell he’s added to his frame and been putting in work in the weight room. Looks like he’s also adjusted his delivery a bit. Hope this is a sign of things to come

Shawn Dubin got the start for Sugar Land but he's been pulled after two innings in Tacoma: 2 IP, 2 BB, 5 K
