Of course you don't have to like each other. But when Doc made his comments, Simmons was still on his team. When Embiid made those comments, Simmons was still on his team. If Simmons became a Net and the first thing Embiid and Doc did, was absolutely **** on him through the media, I would have no problem with it. But the fact that you're pretty much shaming a player who's still on your team, is such bad optics. Saying to the media about how you don't know if I have what it takes to be a champion? Saying to the media about how you're not being paid to babysit, meaning you look at me as a child and not a man? That's burning a bridge with a player still on your own team. Bad. It'd be like if Embiid constantly talked about how Harden has terrible shooting nights and looks washed more often than not. Everyone who watches these games can clearly see that. It'd be like if Malone absolutely ripped every non-Jokic Nugget about how they all suck and that's why they can't beat GSW. It wouldn't be saying anything the world didn't already know. And LOL @ costing him playoff runs. Bruh, the most highlighted thing was the one possession that Simmons should have taken a shot. Yeah, no denying that was bad/embarrassing. Yet you're acting like Simmons committed 20 turnovers and went 1-50 from the field across a string of games or something, and was the sole reason why Philly lost. Beverley and Westbrook were and are on two different teams and Beverley literally injured Westbrook during a situation where it's basketball courtesy to not aggressively go for the ball as the opponent is calling timeout. Embiid and Simmons, at the time, were on the same team and Simmons didn't injure Embiid. Your example makes zero sense.
What was dirty laundry about what he said, maybe just maybe he did not give a **** anymore because he saw how Ben had shrunk again in the playoffs. And once again he did not say much and even if he did what did he owe Simmons this is a business of winning, since when has anybody cared that much about feelings when it comes to sports? Doc said he did not know if Simmons could be a pg on a championship team, how is that wrong or at fault for Simmons quitting? Why the hell does Doc or Embid owe Simmons anything? This narrative that somehow Embid or Doc aired some kind of dirty laundry about Simmons is a crock IMO. It's not Doc and Embid's problem that the situation got worse, its Simmons fault for getting caught up in his feelings and refusing to come to work. How the hell can compare what Harden did as opposed to Simmons we are talking about a guy in harden who actually played the more games than KD and Kyrie since he was traded to the Nets and played injured to boot, how is that anything like Simmons? And some people were reporting that KD had a lot more to say about Harden that what you said. Jackson would say **** about Shaq and Kobe all the time and they never said they would refuse to play, coaches have said much worse stuff all the time.
Uhh no Simmons has sucked in the playoffs and has been phillys weakness for years. He’s much of the same problem has westbrick where teams don’t have to guard him and he has a competitive factor of next to nothing. He plays scared and thinks he’s an all world talent. Simmons wasn’t on the team the minute the only choice was for him to sit out. He was never going to play for Philly again. So yeah it applies. Everyone was fed up with his bs. And rightfully so. He should be called out for being a loser On so your brotherhood nonsense doesn’t apply to two nba guys like bev and westbrick. Lets just pick and choose. Typical cf’s
??? 0:23 start. "Doc, you think Simmons can still be a PG for a championship team like the one you want to become?" Doc: "I don't know the answer to that question right now, so yeah...I don't know." If you don't interpret that as "Ben Simmons cannot be the PG of the championship team I envision," then I don't know what to tell you.
Dude? This what you said. Saying to the media about how you don't know if I have what it takes to be a champion? So yeah thanks for proving me right. He specifically said PG not that he could not be a player on a championship team, if you think that one statement was cause enough for Simmons to go into operation shutdown, I really don't know what else to say.
I'm not picking and choosing. The two situations couldn't be more dissimilar, and I've explained why. If you can't see why the two situations are not the same, then you're just being willfully ignorant to be ignorant. Or argumentative to be argumentative. You're hyperfocusing on thinking that a brotherhood is static or that no external factor(s) can change the state of the relationship and I'm not sure why. Simmons is a member of the 76ers until he isn't. Until he's not, you really shouldn't be trying to crap on him, regardless if you're Embiid or Doc. Because how does that help you as a team, or as a franchise? By listing off-the-court stuff or by airing dirty laundry, you're just diminishing his value even more.
Bruh, the reporter could literally ask about any of the other 4 positions, coach, assistant coach, waterboy, towel folder, ball boy, etc, and Rivers would still say Simmons isn't fit to be any of those on a championship team. It's fine if you believe Rivers thinks he could be a SG/SF/PF on a championship team if you want. But when your coach publicly doesn't think that you can play the position that you're most suited for, it's curtains for you on that team.
The brotherhood logic absolutely does apply. You again are just picking and choosing. No Simmons is not a member of the 76ers til he isn’t. He wasnt even with the team the entire time. Sat at home on vacation while the season is literally going on. Didn’t talk to any of the players. Turned his back on everyone all while still being obligated to play under contract. Acting like Simmons is some victim is here is just laughable. He deserves any backlash he gets. This grade school mentality of people need to be brothers to Simmons is just dumb, especially for someone who has no intentions of putting out that same energy. Take this weak mentality somewhere else
How does the brotherhood logic apply, and how am I picking and choosing? You keep talking, but continue to say absolutely nothing. Who's acting like Simmons is a victim? I've said before that Simmons absolutely deserves all the blame he's getting. If Embiid and Doc want to talk **** post-Nets trade, by all means, it's great. But doing so while the dude was still on your team, helps no one. Doesn't help Simmons. Doesn't help Embiid or Doc. Doesn't help your franchise. Literally no point in bashing the dude while he was still on your team. If you don't see why, then there's no reason to continue this. I'd ask you to explain how the Embiid/Simmons situation is the same as the Bev/Westbrook situation, but you obviously can't and I just don't care anymore. You're a complete waste of time.
It’s your post. That’s why he wasn’t on the team. Never was going to play for Philly again. Sat his ass at home. You keep overlooking that And in reality it absolutely helped the franchise cause they ended up with harden anyway while armchairs thought morey was playing his cards all wrong. So yeah it did plenty to help them. They want to win. They don’t want losers like Simmons around
I agree. It's a little ridiculous. I think Devin Booker is waaay overlooked . I would have no problem with Embiid though.
I think Booker gets overlooked because most people attribute the Suns’ rise to CP3 and his impact, but CP3 doesn’t have the numbers to ever be in serious contention for the award we’ll see if the MVP can win a game or at least manage to lose by less than 10
Embiid didn't even say anything bad by the way. The reporter asked what went wrong, he basically said Simmons passed on the layup, and then Thybulle missed his free throw, and then blamed himself for randomly turning the ball over carelessly in crunch time. Somehow all of that just became Embiid singled out Simmons under the bus.

I’ve seen so many players saying Embiid is the MVP, I have seen no such thing for Jokic stat geek media is gonna gift Jokic another award tho
Would you agree that Jokic isn't a bad choice? Purely looking at the standings, it is a 3 game difference between their teams. They both carried teams without their 2nd star and through injuries. I am not even going to consider the issue with Jokic being likely eliminated in the first round since playoff results should be irrelevant to this award. I would consider this year being similar to the year that Harden/Curry were in the top 2 (2014 - 2015) and they both had absolutely fantastic season. Although as a Rockets fan I was angry believing that Harden was robbed that year, I knew that Curry was just as deserving that particular year. This to me doesn't feel like when Harden got robbed when Westbrook got the MVP or when Nash got it over Shaq. I think they are both equally deserving. Personally, I would of given the nod to Embiid since Jokic already got an MVP last year, but I'm not upset about the choice.
Embiid definitely deserves it but Jokic isn't a bad choice regardless, what hes been able to do with Denver this year by himself is impressive. Personally I think Embiid is winning it
