It took me some time to understand it (I supported the measures in the beginning), but unfortunately, you are 100 % right.

So, if I read you correctly, the government failed us in 2020 and the government failed us in 2021?

Yes. The government has failed us in those years and many others as well. Under Bush, Obama, Trump and now under the current occupier of the white house as well. Certainly the government has failed us in comprehensive, wall-to-wall, epic fashion on this coronavirus matter. The real crisis associated with this has actually been the government handling of it and not so much the virus itself.

Lifelong bureaucrats in government like Tony Fauci and liberal governors and administrators across America failed us, and continue to fail us. No surprise, really. They think that their constituents are incapable of making good decisions and, as such, they must intervene and impose top-down, command-and-control policies and mandates. It's all about power, and then utilizing the "crisis" to advance political objectives (vote by mail, increased size of government, infrastructure spending) as well as trialing new ways of controlling the populace (proposed OSHA rules, using the denial of professional licenses to shut down businesses). Anyone that hasn't woken up to this needs to be deprogrammed.

So, the President(s) (who are ultimately in charge of the lifelong bureaucrats) don't have any "power" over them to not impose recommended mask mandates on "federal property" (e.g. airports, train stations, etc.) as well as other precautions?

Would it be fair to say that the vast majority of all governments around the world have failed and not just limit it to the USA?

India has not done too badly overall, either.

And Africa was the control group - they largely lacked the means to do "measures", and strangely, they didn't all die.

Australia and NZ are the only 2 western countries to have negative excess death estimates

Norway did considerably better than Sweden
From what I've read India had mass underreporting of covid
Uh... they kinda don't have old people

Shows what I know, @MojoMan. Feds aren't fighting this at this point. United, Delta and Alaska have already made them optional. I assume other airlines will follow suit.

It would have been quicker if she simply said "i dont know. Just shut up and do what you're told".

@bobrek, I find it funny that you seemed to be one of the defenders of mask mandates (even for toddlers) and of "measures", but clearly, you don't want to be burdened by having to wear a mask on your own trips.

    Safe travels!

Nope... I'm a follower of the rules, even the ones i don't like. I wear my mask where required. I even continue to wear it at church and the grocery store. I may even continue to wear it on a plane. But at least I can take it off if I want.
