One more trade idea: Hornets get: Christian Wood, #17 Rockets get: Kelly Oubre, #13, #15 I ran this by a knowledgeable Hornets fan who runs a Hornets blog. His response:
I’d consider that. I was in the do not trade Tate crew. I thought he could be a Draymond type of player for this team. Not feeling it anymore.
Interesting. It gets us two higher picks in the teens, gets rid of Wood (major plus), and we can give Oubre a tryout. He'll be in the 2nd year of a 2 year deal this coming season, and only $5 million of the $12 million is guaranteed until 6/30/22, although we'd likely pick up the full dime. Oubre is an actual small forward. Just having one would be a trip.
Not in love with it but it would address a need and put us in better position to move into the back of the lottery... Depends if there's someone they like falling there like Segun fell last year... Not interested in 3 more rookies to this team... 2 is plenty after 4 last year...
Either trade from Clutch is a yes for me! Gotta think (hope) that either Sochan or Eason make it to 13 and you could go for the HR swing @15 in Dieng or Daniels.
Oubre is an expiring $12 million contract, which is valuable by itself. Might be able to package one or both of the picks to move up. That's putting aside whatever value getting Oubre is for the team. It's an intriguing deal, in my opinion. The topper is moving Wood, and for value.
Oubre might be a nice player but i doubt he's the long term 3... maybe a role player. He would likely be a rental like Olynk and Schroeder... Moving up and adding picks would be of value to me but the thought of have 7 guys drafted within 2 seasons plus some updrafted guys sounds like a disaster to me. You need more veterans around to get the young guys on track. I don't care so much about finding depth in the draft. We're in the draft for a star. Role players are easy to get to fill in the blanks later... If you think a guy at 10 is the next Kawhi, your plan would get us closer to getting them... the next Ariza in the draft we don't need right now...
I’d only do it if we for sure had another trade set up. We don’t need 3 more rookies, especially if 2 are out of the top ten.
look like tate but you have to think about fit and the other teams needs. imagine tate and randle on the floor together. knicks fans LOATHE randle and tate is basically a mini randle in terms of skillset. they need shooters and young talent.
ya'll these are clown posts. rule of thumb for trades and not overrating your players. think of the best trade offer you are about to propose then make it worse about 50% on either assets given up or received. then it's close to what the other team may CONSIDER accepting. for example on the 1st trade the return would not be 4 1st round picks it would be 2. and on the second trade we could probably trade wood, 5th + 17th for robert williams and some other scrub on the celtics.
i do really like wood + 17th to move up in the draft. he'd be a nice fit in San Antonio next Poetl. Maybe Pop could actually be a good coach for him to listen to but i would only deal Wood if we drafted Banchero. Otherwise I think Wood is a nice fit next to Chet/Smith. Look I don't I love Hero-ball Wood but he does present some great matchup probelms provided we can hide him defensively. Imagining Chet or Jabari spreading out opposing 4/5s opening the lane for Green/KPJ to drive into is very tantalizing to me. Wood is more valuable now if we can lock him up to another reasonable 3+1 deal then ship him out next year. Hopefully last season 3 point % wasn't a fluke and he can play more efficiently then a lot of contenders wouldn't mind picking him up at the deadline or next off-season when he still will only be 28. Lastly I don't think another seasons where Sengun comes off the bench would be the worst thing for his development. He could still easily get 25-30MPG a game providing Silas manages the minutes accordingly.
Celtics would have to get swept in the first round to trade Brown AND Williams. They are ready to compete now and nothing we give them is going to put them over the top. Jaylen Brown and Robert Williams are good defenders. Williams could possibly be a DPOY candidate soon. Wood is not going to pick up the defensive slack.
Definitely just added onto yours but… Hornets in: Russell Westbrook, Christian Wood, HOU #17 pick via Nets Hornets out: Kelly Oubre, #13 & 15 picks Lakers in: John Wall, Rozier or Hayward(maybe, to lazy to look at his contract) Lakers out: Russell Westbrook Houston in: Kelly Oubre, Hornets #13&15 Houston out: John Wall, Christian Wood, #17 via Nets Lakers definitely gonna want one of those picks but f*ck them lol. Maybe toss Tate & Gordon to either team just to help clear more roster minutes
Houston Rockets Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: -6.9 ppg, +3.1 rpg, and -2.5 apg. Incoming Players Clint Capela 27 year old, 6-10, 240 lb PF from Chalon-Sur-Saone (France) 11.1 ppg, 11.9 rpg, 1.2 apg in 27.6 minutes in 2021-2022 De'Andre Hunter 24 year old, 6-7, 225 lb PF from Virginia 13.4 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.3 apg in 29.8 minutes in 2021-2022 Outgoing Players Eric Gordon 33 year old, 6-3, 215 lb G from Indiana 13.4 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 2.7 apg in 29.3 minutes in 2021-2022 Christian Wood 26 year old, 6-10, 223 lb PF from UNLV 17.9 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 2.3 apg in 30.8 minutes in 2021-2022
No Clint is a center and we have our center. Alpi is not a PF on offense or defense. He is our center. We need a defensive playing 3 pt shooting PF. Myles Turner would be a much better fit, but will cost more and has injury concerns.
I agree. I would take the trade, but not to put Capela at center. Atlanta would want more anyway. I don’t know much about Hunter, what role would he play for us? Capela wold need to be traded eventually unless you are benching Sengun. Maybe you could find a third team?
The player I'd target on Hawks is Jalen Johnson. This solves the CF fetish for a long scoring point forward without sacrificing defense, spacing (3P%) AND athleticism.
This would be a home run trade. I like Tate but at this point he's just a hustle guy. I'd be shocked if he continues to play this many minutes as the team gets more forwards. Maybe he could develop a 3 pointer but I'm not holding my breath that he becomes an undersized version of the already undersized PJ Tucker anytime soon.
