I don't know about you but I've been itching to post about how things will change now that Sinn Fein holds a majority in Stormont.
The worst people can say about the far-left is that they are 'woke' and want to say it's okay for boys to wear dresses, use pronouns, and the usual favoring of various regulations. Typical democrat/liberal ****. The worst people can say of the right is that they have already tried to overthrow democracy, ban books, take away women's bodily autonomy, minimizing the voting power of minority groups, and who knows where else they will go from there. It's pretty clear, to me at least, why one side might seem angry. If only we were arguing about if regulations are bad or good again... For me, it's obvious which side has gone over the edge. Hell, if the presidency is Romney v Biden (unlikely I know) I'd even vote for Romney just to send the message to the other side to drop the silly **** and move on from Trumpism for good.
I remember posters here jumping on this fake narrative that Dave Chappelle hates trans people based on Netflix special Which was false because if you saw it he dedicated it to a trans comedian this is like someone saying they hated the movie blade runner but never saw the movie @Deckard
I get what @tinman is doing here. First of all, he thinks very low of the D&D. He's always been open and honest about that fact, so he just spews junk into a junk subforum. The other thing is that his views are very strong and lean far right - so he's going to elevate those posters that he likes and agrees with and rip apart anyone who tries to get into it with him. I don't have a problem with that, or him. His threads are satirical and while I disagree with the logic, and yeah they are mischaracterizations, simplistic takes, and outright untrue for the most part - they are also funny at times if you can separate out your politics from what he posts. He's also hands down one of the most passionate Rockets fan on this forum, and I appreciate a lot of what he posts in the garm.
I’m not right or left Like if you like Popeyes doesn’t mean you don’t like chick fill a the d&d is full of fake tribalism If someone jumps off a cliff you wouldn’t do it But if you are woke and a woke person jumps off a cliff it’s ok I’m the one not laying down flat as a pancake like the coyote falling off the cliff chasing the road runner look before you jump
Have you read your own posts? Seriously. To say "the demonization of everyone who isn't leaning the way you are is an indication of a radicalization on your part" sounds a bit like what you do. I mean, how can you complain about it if you do it all the time? You also stalk and bait by tagging people in posts with a snarky comment or with a subject they have said they don't agree with you on. Maybe try listening more and making your point without the endless cycle of debating when the person responds with an opinion. Attacking people personally isn't the way.
Something obviously broke or feels broken in the last five years. Could be social media making us nuts but the things Trump tried pulling off(rigging an election by protesting fraud) without the country uniting behind the shameless destruction undoubtedly ruined people's faith in the system and in ourselves. Or maybe we're all older and won't tolerate other people's bullshit as often. I think he's a half century old man baby. Mostly pathetic but sometimes funny like a crooked broken clock that's been an unchanging fixture for two decades. A bit pitiable and a joke but that's the thing that he wants you to laugh at.
There are lots of triggers people use, and I am guilty of many, but am trying to stop attacking back with people who get down right nasty to me. Woke isn't a bad thing, as long as it isn't taken to ridiculous extremes. To use the term like it is toxic when referring to Democrats is no different than calling all Republicans a cult. I'm curious, did people in Germany call affordable or free healthcare Communism or Socialism? It seems like many modern world countries believe in the value of it. I wish we did. I don't need it but I know millions do.
Speaking of “woke,” isn’t that word the perfect description for someone who discovers conspiracy theories that prove to them that their life is a lie? I mean isn’t “taking the red pill” sort of the explanation for accepting that moment of “truth?” Meanwhile liberal “woke” means what exactly??.. that you are trying to be a better and accepting person but might be too serious about it from time to time?? Liberal “woke” has nothing to do with suddenly waking up from any type of dream robotic drone state or anything. I mean it’s not like I just woke up yesterday and decided that I felt like racism is bad or something. It’s just sorta saying what you’ve always felt publicly. I dunno… just seems to me people who follow QAnon crap and Trumps fantasy land qualify much more as “woke” in a sarcastic way.
Woke is just easier to spell than enlightened. One side is about acceptance, the other is about control and cruelty...... One has empathy, the other lack of empathy. Either you value and care for your fellow human beings or you don't....... DD
Many countries have lots of things to fix in their healthcare systems, but surely, there is a ton that needs fixing in the US. It's why I'm here... The healthcare part in the UK (NHS) and Germany (mix of public/private health insurance companies) is always a topic for debate, but for the poorer population, it's better than what's available in the US, and people do not call that communism, no.
It's increasingly harder to understand another's perspective these days. Social media makes extremes easier to accept. There are great folks on both sides of the aisle and down the middle too.
I don't think I demonized or even attacked you in any way, did I? All I did was poke a bit of fun at you for mentioning Trump in so many threads.
He is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with our politics. You see what on the right - that people take coincidences and paint the worst. The SEC is investigating Musk? Oh it's because of twitter? Biden works to get rid of a corrupt prosecutor and his son has business dealings with the county - clearly this is a scandal? Yet they ignore their own party's action which are far far worse corruption. The complain about gov't control but are in favor of Republicans having absolute power over everyone's lives dictating what they can say in the classroom and what they can do with their bodies. That's the modern conservative moment. And that's ATW - he complains about closed-mindedness while he labels anyone with a different perspective as either evil or stupid, and talks about being civil but when it suits him, he viciously will attack people. It's the same schtick we see. Ridiculously hypocritical.
@AroundTheWorld When they start talking about you personally and not the topic You won You beat them like Jermaine O Neal did that sucker fan in Detroit
