I'm not too worried about Tucker. He's hitting the ball hard but has been unlucky. Altuve's strikeouts do worry me. He's not making good contact and is swinging at all kinds of stupid stuff.
Tucker has an .050 BABIP, a .286 xBA and a .651 xSlg, he's fine. A few things I've seen from individual pitchers have me mildly concerned, but the offensive slump is nothing. Frustrating, but not an issue to be concerned with.
Its 7 games folks. Offense was hot and cold all year last year. Its who they are. Should be no surprises at this early stage. Altuve will heat up and get going eventually. I strongly urge people to temper their expectations for Jose at this point in his career. He has not been mvp level since 2017. Still a good hitter but just not the same as he was in his mid to late 20’s. The home runs are nice but his days of hitting .340 are probably over. The pitching will hit a big skid at some point too. Long season folks.
This is always how Tucker starts. Remember last season? He should be fine. Altuve I would worry more about, as he looks far more lost, but then again, he had slow starts in 2017 and 2019. Some positive notes- Bregman looks like he's back. Gurriel got things going yesterday. Pena is solid, and McCormick ad Siri are both hitting well.
I guess the Astros used the COVID-List for Alvarez because it allows them to bring up a player and bring Yordan back sooner. If he has the stomach bug going around, that **** is NASTY and can drain you after the 24 hours are up. I lost 12 lbs in 24 hours with that thing.
Zero excuse for Goodrum to be DH. Sorry Dusty lovers, this is inexcusable The one thing he doesn’t do it hit. Meanwhile Siri, our hottest hitter early on, sits
