Correct, but the foot work and playmaking from Sengun is better. He develops a more consistent shot and he’s better than Paolo. And they’re basically the same age
I'm intrigued by Chet. But has anyone with his body type become a superstar in the NBA so far? And what's the best case scenario in terms of bulking up?
Agreed about age. And footwork in paint is not same as footwork in face up game. Banchero has more advanced face up and very good post moves while Sengun's post moves are excellent but face up is not as advanced. Banchero foot work is more fluid in space and ball handling is tighter, more advanced in creating separation when creating shots for himself. Sengun has better vision and quicker decision making. Neither are great at catch and shoot situations, first instinct is to put ball on floor instead. But advantage in C&S goes to Banchero who is a more natural scorer. Banchero is not elite athlete but more explosive than Sengun, especially first step and finishing in traffic. Sengun has much better hands for steal/deflection and better shot blocker but Banchero is more agile, especially for his size, and when focused is easily much better perimeter defender. Sengun is always locked in, especially defensively. While Banchero is more focused offensively, lazy or uninterested on defense. Both would do better in zone or hybrid defense with long rim protectors to back them up instead of switch defense system.
Rockets need defense and size... if they get #1 and #17 draft Smith and Kessler from Auburn. They, Garuba and Tate offer a lot of options.
Wood would be a great fit next to Banchero if he could actually play a lick of defense. Banchero / Wood PnR would be lowkey buckets. problem is they would get feasted on the other end. I say **** it and cash in on some Brooklyn picks and try to get Jabari AND Chet. Trade Ego for late first, trade Tate for late first as well. I would love this rotation : KPJ / Christopher / Nix Green / Christopher / Nix Smith / KMJ Wood / Sengun / KMJ Chet / Sengun
Sengun isn’t a finished product physically, Paolo seems to have developed early and not a ton more projection physically. They will most likely be similar level athletes. Shooting and defensive intensity will ultimately be the deciding factors on where both of them land on the player scale.
They’re both average to above average athletes. Both are more fluid and coordinated than they are explosive. Paolo might be a little faster right now. Paolo is quicker facing up and off the dribble. Obviously has had more time in that position. Sengun is a lot quicker in the post
Durant was 2-3” shorter and 25 lbs heavier than Chet coming out of college. Rookie Yao Ming’s legs weighed more than Chet’s entire body. Gervin was a 2/3 and Chet outweighs him by only about 10 lbs. There is really only one body comp for Chet and that is Poku. He is just an anomaly at that height and low weight.
Is there anyone to compare him to? I don’t think we’ve ver seen a guy with his body type and skill set. No one with that frame has had the combination of athleticism, shooting ability, and defensive instincts that he has. I think shooting translates no matter what. We don’t know how a body like his will hold up at the NBA level. I’m worried about that. But I think it’s worth the risk. He checks too many boxes to pass up imo.
lol rockets gonna tank 10 years in a row for the next years pie in the sky, while the teams that compete will win all the titles...the grass is greener....
yes and some fans would want to tank another year for a kid looks like the next CP3 who'd be perfect next to Green, and then one more year for the next Kawhi who'd be perfect, and then Green's rookie contract is up and wants out to start winning and Rockets will tank another year to find the next Jalen Green ...
shoulders too small, ass too high, elbows too pointy bust in the making just the latest in a long line of stick figure bigs
This is my biggest complaint. Chet = too skinny Wemby = generational talent In reality both are super high upside. Chet better defensively and more mobile. Wemby better offensively and bigger
Why do you keep repeating this? I’m sure the Rockets will continue to try and get a higher pick in the draft in 2024 when the pick goes to the Thunder. is it a schtick you are doing? If that is it I understand. If not then you simply don’t understand the logical approach the rockets should have taken and are taking after they were put in the position they were in with the Paul Westbrook trade. If that is the case I feel bad for you.
AK-47 was shorter, but with a similar frame, albeit still not quite as thin as Chet. He bulked up some. Chet is more fluid in his movement though, and can handle the ball much better. Like many others, I have major concerns about durability/injury due to his frame/ game.
