This is an interesting list, I've seen others with Ivey number 1 overall, which is understandable if they are extrapolating him to 'Ja Morant' potential.

Does anyone else have Ty Ty cracking the top 5? Is he a franchise point guard?

I'm not sold on KPJ, he seems to be mediocre a lot of the time, then dominant for stretches particularly at the end of seasons. I'm wondering if it's a motivation issue with him. The plan imo should be to let him go to RFA next season and match if it's a team friendly deal. A lot of us see him finding a niche as a top notch 6th man in the future. Do you see him as a franchise point guard? His inconsistency is a problem in my estimation. Overall, I'm a fan though, he's an excellent player.

Thats fair. KPJ is not a finished product. He has a reputation too. I get it. He’s flashed some all star potential IMO and I’m willing to give it another year to see if he can continue to improve.

Ivey is awesome. Give him a team where he can dominate the ball and let him fly.

Banchero kind of reminds me of Josh Smith. Is this a fair comparison? I could see him going off for a few games, a la "game 6" J Smoove.

He played good defense in spurts, some games on guards some games on bigs, players of varying range of pro talent.

He did not lock it up 1-5 in any game.

And certainly not for the majority of any game.

If I remember correctly weren't you one of those guys that trashed the depth of talent in NCAA? The league of future accountants or somesuch?

Ivey is no joke and legit top 4 player, shocked CF not giving him enough love.

And Banchero is also deserving of any spot in top 4, would not be surprised if he goes #1 overall regardless of my preference for Chet/Jabari.

The top 5 has been fluid all year for a reason, unlike 2022 draft.

I think Josh was probably a better athlete.

I think Paolo is the smarter player which means he could be infinitely better than Smith.

    Smoov had ridiculous verticality.

Banchero is better all around offensive player. Not quite 3 level but much closer than Smoov.

But neither Smoov or Banchero are 1st option playmakers.

Josh was a freak athlete. Paolo is a solid athlete.

    Agreed about the shooting.

These were concerns I listed with Jabari a little while ago. I even mentioned Kispert who was taken one pick before Sengun.

Having an amazing shot in college is great. It could potentially lead to having a great NBA shot. Kispert could and probably will improve his shot but if it's just a marginal improvement and not big leap, what else does he do well that would justify keeping him in an NBA rotation?

He has a lot of tools to work with and the potential to become an all around player is there, but If Jabari's shot is not elite, your banking on those other skills to develop. If his shot is NBA level elite, and he develops some rim protection, stays a good perimeter switching defender and can make more plays with the ball in his hands then he's hands down the best player here.

I have Jabari ranked high and would be thrilled if we got him but like you, I have Chet as the top guy.

You have Jordanitis man you watched Jordan growing up and now he is all you can think about thats why you think frsnchise players are all about creating shots in crunch time. Crunch time is what, 2 mins in a 48 min game? Its not at all the definition of a franchise player. You know who is a better clutch scorer than Jordan? Robert Horry. Is Horry a better franchise player than MJ yes or no? Clutch making is a skillset just like any other its not the be all and end all of franchise stars otherwise Horry would be the goat.

Franchise player who cant create his own shot in crunchtime? Shaq and Dwight Howard. EZ.

You are right as the name implies a franchise player is someone you can build around to have a chance at a championship. How many franchises are there? 30 right? So that implies there is at least 30 franchise players in the league. You cant have 10 franchise players when there's 30 franchises how does that make any sense? Its not called top 10 player its called franchise player for a reason.

No one skill defines a franchise player. What does Rudy Gobert and Steph Curry have in common skill wise? Both are franchise players and it shows there is not one required skill to become a franchise player. The key word is BUILD AROUND thats why there isnt a required skillset to be a franchise player. You build around your guy and supplement whatever is lacking if you got Giannis then surround him with good scorers like Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton. If you got Steph then get good defenders like Draymond and Klay Thompson. The only requirement is your player has to be good enough to build around for example Trae Young and Steph Curry both do the same thing but one guy is superior to the other. This is what my bolded statement means how good you are at what you rather than what can you do. Colin Sexton also has shot creation skillset but its obv not st the level you should be building around him.

For example Shaq cant create shots and he def cant create shots in crunchtime. So who is more of a franchise player him or Trae Young?

Thats why you saying only Banchero and Ivey can be franchise players simply because others cant create doesnt make any sense.

Kispert has a lot of issues mainly his lack of athleticism and his defense. He is also like 4 inches shorter than Jabari obv Jabari can do a lot more than him like defend guys 1-5, rebound and make putback dunks.

And before people tell me Kispert is extremely athletic due to his drill results sorry I'm talking about in game athleticism not on ninja warrior drills. Kispert is not getting any rebs, not getting to the line, not getting steals or blocks not being a good defender he hasnt done anything that people with great athleticism do in the NBA he can barely even get his shot off.

This is indeed head scratching, I can only think it is a hangover from picking a guard last year over a big? I was a Mobley proponent last year but instantly a Green supporter once he was the pick.

I’d pick Chet first overall but any of the top 4 could end up having the best career. May the basketball gods smile on us at the lottery! :D

Chet is my #1 .... Ivey is #2

Smith Banchero & Murray round out the top 5.

Cmon my guy. Lets not get pedantic. Those clips show the hardest part of that statement. Banchero being able to slide off onto guards in the perimeter is supposedly the big concern - "bad lateral quickness, slow footed" all that jazz. The clips of him defending other bigs are plentiful. Thats where the being able to lock up 1-5 comment came from. You wanting to see that happen on one particular play is kinda funny bro. Like how often does a dude switch 5 times on defense?.

And the NCAA IS mostly career minded amatuer players focused on life after basketball. There are about 1500 DIV 1 ball players and how many get drafted - 60? How am I trashing depth of talent anyway? That Miami team that Paolo controlled dusted Jabari and Auburn. Paolo played much better comp than Chet thats for sure.

Werent you one of the guys who laughed at the GLeague and preparing Jalen Green? How did that work out?

If you believe I'm being pedantic then you do not understand what "locked it up 1-5" actually means.

That's just too many Chet #1 votes for my peace of mind.

But it's clearly Chet, then Jabari, then Banchero - but not overwhelmingly so.

For now anyway, hopefully something changes dynamic between now and draft to allow Rockets more optionality.

We're guard heavy. If we drafted Mobley last year Ivey would get all the hype right now. Would you still want Chet if we had Mobley? I think if we had a completely empty roster and had to pick one prospect to start a team with most people would go with Ivey.

I have been Jabari #1 all the way, but now I'm starting to come around on Chet. I see him as an absolute defensive stud (future DPOY?) with some offensive skills. With his length he could guard the likes of Giannis, KD, Wembanyama, etc. And I could easily see him adding more to his offense (one dribble pull-up in the midrange).
