Even if it doesn't happen, it is indeed glorious to see how the soyboys are panicking and changing their tune about "it's a private company". They only use that argument as long as it fits their woko haram agenda.

Why do I care what happens to twitter? I don't use it and think it's been generally horrible for society, with a few exceptions. I actually do believe in the free market and the idea that private companies can regulate speech however they want - if Elon improves twitter, great. If he wrecks it, the world will move on. I have no problem with either outcome.

Tesla owners should hope he's not really interested in twitter, though. Elon is spread thin as it is and managing yet another company would be problematic for the other companies he owns.

Musk is saying, if you don't accept my offer over premium, I'm going to sell all my shares and tank the price.

Some people worship money. It's kind of sad, actually, but it's the same as peasants of the past.

typical clay travis, a half azzed sportscaster, making convenient baseless claims.

if only the half azzed sportscaster would name someone who is panicking; he didn't because he didn't know

A complete strawman here. I've rarely see people that make this argument go back on it.

Most people understand what a TOS is except for right wingers that doxx teachers on twitters threads then wonder why they were banned.

Social media is being touted as the next big thing as an e-commerce platform either for direct sales or as a springboard. Most of Twitter these days seems to be crypto bros and russian/chinese propaganda govts who happen to be the main ones backing crypto.

I'd guess his real interest in Twitter is because of crypto.

"I'm all for individual rights but...covid mandate."
"I'm all for 1st amendment rights but...don't talk about sexual orientation with my kids."
"I'm all for courts of law but...let's force people to agree to mandatory arbitration."

A lot of the 'Free Speech' people won't bat an eye if Musk buys it and bans 'woko-haram' posters.

Many of these people have no idea what free speech is. What's amazing to me is on this board in particular we don't have free speech, the board has rules over what you can and can't say. The stickied thread of this very sub forum is a guideline of how not to speak to other posters.

If Elon does buy it and take off those restrictions. People WILL leave. It won't be a boycott or anything of the sort, it'll be people tired of seeing edgelords crap all over the platform and move on.

Right wingers seem to think social platforms are invisible but that couldn't be further from the truth. They fall and rise too.

What is interesting is what happens when/if he buys it and nothing changes? Gab owner is getting in on this and what a lot of people don't realize is a lot of these internet companies are beholden to so many rules, laws, etc etc. Tumblr for instance blocked p*rn because it wanted to remain in the app store (a pretty big deal for a social website) and that killed tumblr.

This isn't even counting the various laws other countries have that allow twitter. Allowing free speech on the platform is going to get it blocked in certain countries.

Making Twitter the wild wild west seems good on paper (to the freezepeach warriors) but it's easier said than done.

This country still has rules and laws as well. The TOS for a company are not only rules for users but a legal defense for a company to not be liable for more serious **** that might happen.

Most of the top stories on twitter are right wing stories, so clearly it's an instrumental tool for the right to get information given their mistrust of mainstream media.
