    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...unches-43-billion-hostile-takeover-of-twitter

    Elon Musk has made a "best and final" offer to buy Twitter Inc., saying the company has extraordinary potential and he will unlock it.

    The world's richest person will offer $54.20 per share in cash, representing a 54% premium over the Jan. 28 closing price and a value of about $43 billion. The social media company's shares soared 18%.

    Musk, 50, announced the offer in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday. The billionaire, who also controls Tesla Inc., first disclosed a stake of about 9% on April 4. Tesla shares fell about 1.5% in pre-market trading on the news.

    In a letter to Twitter's board, Musk said he believes Twitter "will neither thrive nor serve [its free speech] societal imperative in its current form. Twitter needs to be transformed as a private company"

    The takeover is unlikely to be a drawn out process. "If the deal doesn't work, given that I don't have confidence in management nor do I believe I can drive the necessary change in the public market, I would need to reconsider my position as a shareholder," said Musk.

    The $54.20 per share offer is "too low" for shareholders or the board to accept, said Vital Knowledge's Adam Crisafulli said in a report, adding that the company's shares hit $70 less than a year ago.

    Seems like a lowball offer. I’d be surprised if Twitter accepts it. Though I guess this whole episode will drive their stock price even lower?

    I am all for free speech but its a slippery slope with social media, when Trump was full blown twitter it became all lies which is partially what contributed to Jan 6th........when free speech turns to conspiracy theories I am reminded you cant say "FIRE" in a theatre if there is no fire. I love me some EM but I have a feeling he would turn this into something that would take on a life of its own and fact checking would become a full time job, I think we have seen to many instances in the trump world where lies are believed and no amount of facts will sway them........hell, I can look at my own family and know how crazy and radicalized people can become from listening to lie after lie........and dont get me started on Q conspiracist

    It’s hard to control peoples opinions
    For example , religion . Not proven by science.
    If some one tells everyone to jump off a cliff people will do it .

    People need to take responsibility for their actions . If you believe some scrub from Europe is the savior of the rockets and he turned out to suck , you need to recognize that you’re wrong. Clutchfans shouldn’t ban you for your bad take

    I don't understand how poor and middle people think a billionaire will have your best interest at heart whether it be Trump or Musk...these two care about one thing, the almighty dollar.

    I mean, if Twitter declines the offer and Musk sells away all his shares, as he said he likely will.

    Twitter is going the route of facebook. Its dying. The algorithms are driving people into debates and discussions when the platform can be used for much more than discourse.

    Wishful thinking at best but wouldn't mind at all if that happened.

    I hope he buys it. It would be a nice humbling experience for him to get into something that isn't hard tech, something he doesn't understand, and watch it fall apart. I've never been a fan of social media - so seeing a network fail would be all too perfect for multiple reasons.

    lol, he understands twitter very well, he has like 81 million followers

    He's the richest dude in the world for a reason.
    @Os Trigonum

    I think clutchfan posters don't understand what it's like to be the richest man in the world

    saying elon musk doesn't know how to run a company is like saying Hakeem Olajuwon doesn't know how to post up
    @AroundTheWorld

    but this is the D&D, a sub segment of a basketball forum

    No it's like saying Michael Jordan might not be great at baseball just because he's the best at basketball.

    But carry on.
