Im having a hard time understanding your point. Maybe cause your text is all messed up. I’m speaking to the notion that it should be enough in this case regardless of Beto because Abbott, Paxton, etc. are that bad but I’m not saying Beto is good or he has a winning strategy in Texas. Trust me I wish the Democrats were better at ALOT of things. However I wish they weren’t crucified because they say one thing that can be used politically against them and the other side just gets an unearned monopoly on governing our state during my lifetime. YES… ALL DEM VOTERS WISH DEMOCRATS WERE BETTER POLITICIANS… geezus man. Like we all get that. That’s not at all what I’m talking about and it’s weird you keep going on this diatribe. Why not for 2 seconds could you actually recognize the freaking point I’m making? Vote for whoever the hell you want. Just don’t tell me that Abbott and co. deserve a evergreen monopoly over our state just because at one point a Democrat primary candidate running for President called for an AR ban literally days after his home town had a mass shooting. I mean give me a GDamn break.
Deserve? Deserve? Who is saying Deserve! I am saying THEY DO HAVE THE MONOPOLY because the Democrats Suck at political marketing and advertising thing Rocket River
Gerrymandering helps the Texas House and Texas Senate Republican party incumbents (and many Democratic incumbents). The shoe was on the other foot for Dems in the 80's, but the tech is better now. Gerrymandering does not in theory help any party win statewide office. Any party that wins the plurality of the vote for Governor, Lt. Gov, Land Commissioner, Ag Commissioner, Comptroller, Supreme Court seats or anything else statewide will win. Dems haven't won anything like that since the 90's. Gerrymandering is awful and undemocratic, but mainly impacting the Texas Legislature.
... "and voting law changes." And hyperpartisan redistricting helps ensure that anti-democratic voting law changes happen and stay in place.
Yes, in a secondary way that is true. It's harder for Texas to turn blue with Republicans in charge, but there may just not be the blue votes regardless of the shenanigans. Texas Dems have just done terribly statewide, other than Beto 4 years ago and that wasn't even enough against a universally reviled Cruz.
I can't trust Dem leadership in Texas to blast this and overtake the Buh-Biden bah-lowing up inflation story ripping across America. I'd get my flying car before a Dem candidate can pull off that nuanced localized messaging.
They need better social media marketers on staff or something. Operation Lone Star needs another $500M and is a disaster. The frontline troops are wasting their lives away, losing their businesses, and not getting education benefits while serving. Also, they can't make arrests and do nothing except get depressed sitting in the desert next to portajohns. The stats a juked so that drug busts made hundreds of miles away and have nothing to do with the operation gets included in the operation. And morale is lower than ever (per the Military Times). And now, HEB might not have your groceries because Abbott loves more kabuki theater and showmanship more than substance. There's just so much to attack if there was better marketing on the Dems side.
Off topic a tad but the crisis at the border will never get fixed unless both parties come together and figure out what's best for Texas and then what's best for the rest of the country, there are so many obstacles to devising a plan that will work for everyone. I am so tired of both sides using the border as point to get elected and then never following through with anything, its been a mess forever and until we come together and figure it out its just a pawn in the political arena like guns.....................I still have trump supporters saying Joe is going to take your guns away.......like what, no one is taking any guns from anyone, that's just a lie thats been told for so long that people actually believe it
There have been several bipartisan comprehensive packages in the last few years. There was a package in 2014 that would’ve greatly increased border security and enforcement in exchange for addressing Dreamers. In 2018 Pelosi and Schumer offered Trump a similar deal in exchange for Wall funding. Trump initially was willing to accept it but changed his mind when many Congressional Republicans were against it.
People don't know it yet, but the crisis at America's border that is accelerating is that...we aren't letting enough people IN to cope with our aging population and economic growth will suffer if we don't start admitting more. I know people aren't ready to believe this yet, and the white nationalist party will never believe it, because it's the core of their very being to not believe this. But it's true. I will start a thread at some point.
Maybe they can hold an educational summit with 20 year old TikTokers who can regurgitate the talking points to their 18 year old non-voting followers.
Maybe if HEB actually sold "local" food as they claim they do they wouldn't have such a problem bringing in all those cantaloupes, watermelon, fruit, etc.. in from Mexico and Central America. Even their seafood department is loaded with imported fish and shrimp.
