...and the Germans who were laughing at this are total clowns and idiots. Note also how CNBC and "Now This" completely misjudged and misrepresented the truth here.
Were you dropped on your head as a baby? Germany is not totally dependent on Russian energy. See ... Wind power in Germany. In 2019, a quarter of the country's total electricity was generated using wind power Except of course, if those foreign powers assist Trump in his political pursuits.
So what? He was a ****ing disaster for this country and the world.....**** Trump, may he die AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. DD
Is this "totally dependent on Russian energy?" Note this is just gas which accounts for about 15% of German energy consumption.

So.. so trump wasn't right and instead the "total clowns and idiots" were? I guess atw will be sad that trump was wrong again...
Coal and oil are far more fluid markets so easily replaced - Germany is not "dependent" on those energy sources from any one particular country. Gas on the other hand is much harder to find an alternative.
Right, that was the gist of the articles: they now want our gas, we're selling them all we can, but it will take a while to get the "Russia-replacement" infrastructure in place.
Let's say he was 50% right then. As usual, Trump engaged in a bunch of hyperbole to turn a valid point into something ridiculous. Germany was relying overmuch on Russian gas, and it was a frequent topic of debate on whether it was really wise to allow that vulnerability to continue -- or even increase. If he's in the camp of turning away from Russian gas, I'd say he was right. But, it's not like he invented that policy position. This was already well-trod ground.
Makes sense - my only point was to counter Trump's claim of Germany being, "Totally dependent on Russian energy" as still being false.
But you got to admit, he's not bad at golf Well you know he's funny at times, too And on some days, a little cute... Oh god I want to crawl inside him
You really think Trump purposefully put that line in there because he had the knowledge that this was the case? Or was it more likely put in there by John Bolton or Niki Haley who would know that and have the position on discouraging business deals with Russia that help pay for expansionist dictatorships like Putin's regime or MBS. Trump's own actions conflict with this line in his speech. Why would he himself do deals with China, the Saudis, etc. if he actually believed this? The Saudi's are deeply engaged in mass murder in Yemen & butchered a Washington Post Journalist yet Jarrod Kushner just raked in TWO BILLION DOLLARS from the Saudis in a personal business deal. Ivanka secured how many patents with China again? Then there is the fact that Trump signed a letter of intent directly with the Kremlin to build Trump Tower Moscow. Yet he has the gall to point fingers at the Germans for buying natural gas from the Russians which entangles them with Russia to the point of no return???? I mean... wow. All evidence points towards Trump actually NOT believing this, and believing the opposite. John Bolton might have been right on this one point which he likely put in this speech. Trump WAS NOT right about a damn thing.
Correct. Trump was just representing the (correct) US goverment position. But of course I knew people would get triggered by reading "Trump was right" . He could say 2+2=4 and at this point, people would get angry and deny it, just because it was Trump who said it. I was personally present when US government representatives told German government officials this years ago. Except that the German government officials thought they knew better. And that, folks, to a large extent empowered and funded Putin to end up in a position to wage war against Ukraine.
