I, selfishly, want Marcus to stay, with us becoming the consensus #1, holding it...then winning it all. (which could happen without him) But, there's the business side. I've always seen him going in the 25 -35 range...and, I really don't think that's gonna change TOO much either way. Once he demonstrates he's healthy...that's it. Maybe there's too much downside risk coming back. BUT, if he does comes back...there's a good chance he wins a National Title. A lot to think about. I have no doubt he has the best advisors, who are in synch with UH/KS...The Sassers and their character...The right decision will be made. That being said, I feel like it could go either way. I'd lean towards Marcus coming back if he realizes he's not going in the first.
Sasser said he is coming back if he doesn't go in the first round. Coming off an injury, and with his low 2 point field goal percentage, and with his size, I don't think he will be told he is a first rounder..... I could very well be wrong though, he knows how to defend and he plays hard and can hit outside shots... it only takes one team to say they will take him at the end of round 1.
Assuming he comes back...and I THINK that's how this ends...do not be surprised to see UH ranked #1 in the preseason polls for 2022/3 season.
Very possible. I think that Arkansas and UCLA may be ranked ahead of them depending on any defections those teams have. For UH a lot doesn't just rest on Sasser, but also which big they end up with out of the portal.... there are a couple that could make a huge difference.
Grimes was projected top 10 of second round when he first declared and after the pre draft camps he shot up to bottom 10 of first round.
Sasser needs to show he can consistently create shots for others to be taken in the 1st round, and even then, his size is a real limitation.
I heard about this a week ago (Davis wanting to come home). I know they are really guard deep..... but UH has to find a way for this to happen..... he is the best player in the portal and would be just NASTY with Sasser...
UH would have a logjam at guard with shead/sasser. all these guys are full time starters. This would be caleb mills all over again where someone just would end up out of rhythm and ultimately unhappy with just spot minutes
I still think you do it for someone like Davis if he wants to come. He is a really good scorer, passer and shooter... and has been working on his defense. He is the top player in the transfer portal.
if everyone is back, I wouldn't. There's a such thing as too much talent which creates imbalance and we see that in programs like kentucky/duke which fails in chemistry year after year. Bc they have too many guys and not enough minutes
I tend to agree with you, but we have a very shrewd coach who is fully capable of figuring this all out.
not really. He couldn't do it with caleb mills and Davis has just as much of an ego as he does. And davis wants to go to the league. He isn't interested in some spot minutes and that role isn't getting him into the league
Broome is getting a lot of interest from Duke and especially Kentucky. Getting him over those programs would be very impressive.
Davis please. You can never have too much talent. He knows what he is getting into if he signs. Anyone coming here now is trying to win a championship. And even more personal sacrifices will need to be made to do it.
