Love the article. I think Sengun's potential to be Pau to Green as Kobe could have been featured a bit more, even.

    Future is bright.

I’m not convinced any of them are the long term answer (as starters), but it is nice to have Nix, Porter, and Christopher as all bigger bodied guards from a defensive standpoint to pair with Green.

Nix is still a nice development prospect — he’s got a long way to go to being a legit rotation player, but his growth from disappointing stretch on Ignite to undrafted rookie to a pretty dominating stretch in the G League at age 20 is underrated. His skill set is very complementary to Green if he continues on this trajectory.

Green’s supernova performance at the end of the year also hid some nice development from Josh Christopher. I was impressed with his overall commitment on the defensive end for a rookie, and he showed real microwave potential off the bench. He’s probably best as a havoc guard off the bench, but that’s a great find for a late first.

We have our 1st option and a good portion of the peripheral and support players for Jalen to contend. I expect a nice jump next year in the win column somewhere around the 30-35 win mark, but I still think this team is two years away from making noise. Maybe we get lucky in the draft next season and wont need to tank to secure a top pick. Crazier things have happened.

For me it was a bittersweet season. Its been a long time since the board and Rocket Nation was as divided as it was. Its cool to see things mending and finding some common ground as fans. I hope Jalen has won over a good portion of those who were in doubt or who outright just disliked him as a person and player.

Some good news - there's only one way to go from last place! The Silver Linings 2021 season.

The season was a success, we all know it because so many more people were following along this year than last year. That alone says a lot.

They are the type of players that a team like the Rockets should have on their roster. If even one of them becomes a long term rotation piece it is worth the effort and I think that all three have the talent to play in the NBA long term.

Yeah, I liked the signing of Nix a lot, and I felt he would be a mid first rounder had he been in shape last year. He has some limitations as a scorer, but I like his feel for the game and his size. He has the skill set to start or come off the bench if he keeps developing. He would be getting a lot more attention if we didn't have so many other young players.

I feel that Christopher had the best rookie season of all of those on the roster relative to opportunity and role. He was under-rated going into the draft last year after a short COVID season where he struggled shooting. He has a lot of physical talent, he has very high upside potential as a defender and has the right attitude. Offensively I don't think he is a good enough creator to play the point and his shooting is inconsistent - but he can play a Mobley type role.

Will they ever post his true height without shoes?

He is not 6'6, prob not even with shoes. 6'5 at best

edit; ok so Rockets Roster page says hes 6'4, that makes sense https://www.nba.com/rockets/roster

that's a nice comparison, good defender, can take his man in isolation, hit the open 3. i think his ceiling is higher than cuttiono's because of his speed in transition, both ways. he needs to work on that step back to open up his driving game, then he'd be close to all-star. he's more of athlete than cuttino, and with 20 pounds of muscle added in the next five to six years, he can play the 3. he has the frame and athletiscm. we got ourselves a steal in christopher.

A person's height is from the bottom of his feet to the top of his hair. Jalen Green is definitely 6'6 on most nights by that definition. :D

Both Green and KPJ listed 6'4", it's possible that Green grew some. (maybe it's the hair thickness)
I wonder if they'll re-measure start of next season.

That’s what made Ben Wallace (big hair days) a legit 7 footer. ;)

Oh, and Cade is NOT 6’8”. More like 6’5” with shoes on, and on a good day.

Didn't KPJ say his real height was 6'6" before the start of the season?

I think both Green and KPJ are hovering between 6'5" to 6'6" with shoes, so likely around 6'4" to 6'5" without shoes.

That being said, both Green and KPJ came in the league at a young age, so both of them having grown a bit since their initial measurements isn't surprising.

@Nook is definitely close to 6'6 with shoes. And with extensive hair.

Someone has to lose or maybe every team is .500??

The only other alternative is to give the teams with the best records the best picks??

    perhaps make it all random??
