I think this is a very strong possibility but even without outright NATO membership they are likely to engage in other security arrangements with NATO countries. I will repeat what I’ve said in the UKraine thread. For those who don’t support NATO and think that Putin is justified in taking on “Transatlantic Globalist Elites”, this war isn’t helping. If anything g it’s making NATO and the transatlantic relationship stronger. Putin’s position as a bastion against the Post War liberal alliance is far weaker now than when the war started. His vaunted military is greatly underperforming with thousands of dead Russian troops. His economy is teetering and Russia has lost international prestige.
you know that, except for the US, every NATO member has universal healthcare, no? indeed, the richest/most powerful country in the world doesn't provide healthcare for its citizens

Sorry if I am missing any sarcasm you intended... what is NATO's purpose? Its not fighting socialists or socialism... Besides. Finland and Sweden are both parliamentary democracies.

This is going to get very interesting. Finland absolutely has a dog in this hunt with their history with Russia over the centuries. Sweden also knows that if Finland falls, they could be next. I see the Western POV as this: Ukraine getting attacked is sort of like the cat lady or some goth girl getting mugged in the park. There's outrage but it's tempered because hey, this is a weirdo lady (country). But Finland and Sweden are more like high-falutin' rich ladies out shopping on Rodeo drive. If they get attacked, it's going to get nasty. Per the article, it has to be a unanimous vote by NATO member countries, and Turkey is waffling.
