Jalen Green have moving forward? It's become apparent that JG is vastly becoming the face of the franchise and with that comes input into future acquisitions. The Rockets gave James Harden carte blanche and we all know how that turned out! Similarly, LeBron James has single handedly messed up the Lakers roster. We know that Green is friends with JC and Nix. So, I think he had a hand in bringing them on. If the Rockets are fortunate to win the lottery, will he sway the Rockets pick to someone he knows vs. someone who's the best choice?
I love Green, but none. We're about to really start suffering the consequences of a superstar having a "say" in personnel/trade decisions.
Nothing for now. Once he is a year away from that contract extension, we'll probably start "running things by him first."
None and he knows it. He's a first year rookie, he has no idea what is best for the team at this point.
We already drafted his friend Josh Christopher and signed his Ignite teammate Daishen Nix and will draft another friend in Paolo Banchero (or Jaden Ivey). How much more say does he want? Spoiler CHILL.
This. Every superstar eventually has a say in team decisions. That's just how it works if you want to keep them. The only other approach is prioritizing foreign players who never want to be involved. But, Jalen has his hands full learning NBA basketball right now. He's got plenty of time before he gets into the business side. And, that will only happen when he's proven himself as an all-nba performer.
Green recently made a statement that any roster decisions should be left to coaching and management. He knows that he isn't anywhere close to that level yet to demand anything. He's 20. He shouldn't be making any decisions and he knows it.
None until he is at least 25/26 and even then I'd like them to talk to him because ultimately he has to feel like he can trust his team, but never ever do I want them to let him make decisions. Lebron might be one of the smartest on court bball players ever and even he sucks at roster building.
It makes sense that they took a look at ex teammates of JG while watching film of JG. If you're watching the ignite games anyway because you like JG why not take a look at Nix and get him, just like they did.
Name a professional sports team where the star player making personnel decisions led to good franchise outcomes. Suggesting players, recruiting, and being in open communication with the GM? Sure! Great.
His detractors once said he was basically the commercial of a fried egg, is this your brain on drugs? But yesterday the media asked him a similar version of the OP's question. His response was that the question was for the GM and the higher ups. He's a damn genius.
Player input can be crippling to a franchise, just ask DW4 and the Texans. When asked how he felt about B.O.B, Deshaun said he backed him 100% and that led to D-Hop being traded, B.O.B getting more power and ultimately crippling the Texans for yrs. I think players need to be consulted on on the court issues but off court decisions need to be left to the front office....stay in your lane
