I’ve heard Asians complain about cultural appropriation particularly regarding food. I’ve heard many Native Americans complain about cultural appropriation.
Really? So only Asians can make Asian food or are they mad about jack in box egg rolls? Trader Joe's soup dumplings? Those people would be surprised if they ever stepped in the back of a Asian restaurant.
@Rocket River All these boy bands from back street to bts Owe everything to the jackson 5 and new edition They paved the way for them Before the clueless start mentioning the Beatles they don’t dance do any of these k pop dudes ever go solo like Michael or Bobby ?
This, so much this. It's how I feel exactly. The term appropriation had gotten weaponized about the same time cancel culture was a huge thing. IMO it was just a reason to hate on somebody and get attention for faux outrage. I am glad it did not take more of a root it actually died off pretty quickly IMO, there is hope for us yet.
A comedian dialing things up for comedic effect? Who knew? It was how she talked, growing up with black friends, yes shrug indeed.
Same with the Centers now doing a baseline fade-away with a juke, that's Dream BTS dance moves = Michael Jackson proof moonwalk is obvious
Cultural appropriation is not a real thing. Everyone copies from everyone else. Every culture on earth didn't independently invent paint, artistic expression, melody, rhythm, stringed instruments, drums, harmony, singing, language, mathematics, cars, microprocessors, computers, the Internet, film, radio, comedy, acting, writing, etc. Each builds on foundations laid earlier. Novel things pop up somewhere from some genius and spread around the world across races, nationalities, and cultures. I guarantee anyone that complains about cultural appropriation has been using products of other cultures to a far greater degree than whatever they are b****ing about.
I thought falafel was more of a mid eastern thing. I have not had a good falafel or any, in a long time.
