So teachers are sexually grooming kids to be gay. Okay.

Maybe for conservatives understanding the concept of empathy and teaching it to little kids is such a foreign concept that it HAS TO BE sexual grooming rather than "hey kids, gay people exist. Here's a short picture book of a gay couple holding hands and being happy".

No, that has to be sexual grooming right?

How about going to the actual site referenced in the article and not posting a snippet of their study.

I did. It says the same thing. I also followed one of their links. https://www.apa.org/topics/lgbtq/orientation

What causes a person to have a particular sexual orientation?

There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles; most people experience little or no sense of choice about their sexual orientation.

WTF. I'm clearing up a common misconception and you are freaking out. Earlier in this thread I said that the grooming argument seems to be the new satanic panic.

I'm fairly certain I could have been raised in fairyland, hearing nothing but showtunes, watching nothing but queer eye.....and that first pair of titays I see would completely deprogram all that.

On the contrary i didn't ignore it - i reviewed it and some similar work and found it not particularly impressive.

Lots of flaws not to mention they looked at whether someone had a same sex partner not whom they found attractive.

    Appreciate the honesty.

It is an okay book. I think that it is kind of a gimmick, it rests of the definition of "empathy" for the most part, and I don't think that what the author relies on is what many people mean by empathy... and the idea that people ONLY operate on empathy like the author states is not valid IMO. Still worth reading.

I am sorry, but teaching children that there are people around them that are LGBTQ isn't grooming.

They are being taught that there are a lot of different people in the world, and that there are good people in all different shapes and sizes.

This line of thinking is silly.

    This is absurd.

You also have made several references to pedophilia and how it "isn't legal now", as if it has some connection to the LGBTQ community and it doesn't and never will. Being queer has no connection to being attracted to children either.

We teach children in basic terms about other cultures, about grandparents and brothers and sisters... about firemen and about the police and even the President. There is zero reason to not teach them about transgender people and gay people other than discrimination.

First, what does it matter if 2% of the population is gay or 10%? Why is being straight preferable to someone being gay? It doesn't impinge on you or anyone else.... unless you believe that one sexuality is inherently better than the other.... and that would be discrimination, and would be bigoted.... just like those that claim one race is better than another.

Also, we have lived in a world where people have repressed their sexuality and lied because of social pressure. We are trying to stop that because it isn't healthy.

Again with the pedophilia... are you seriously comparing being gender fluid or homosexuality to being a child molester?

FWIW there is no correlation between homosexuality and child molestation.

Hell, if we want to really get primal with it, the problem is MEN and males in the modern culture as they are responsible for the VAST majority of sexual crimes in the world today.

Yeah.... all of the data says otherwise. The chances of physical abuse, sexual abuse and poverty for someone that is transgender is WAY higher.... as is the suicide rate. What you are doing is no different than the white men that said segregation is "separate but equal"..... and there is no discrimination and hasn't been any.

The funny thing is that I am not even a huge proponent of the immediate pushing of LGBTQ rights to the forefront, I believe that the rights of women are a far larger concern overall as they make up over 50% of the population.

To be fair I think this has a lot to do with what the GOP and right target as a cultural hot topic and the center and left react to the GOP making these things topic number one by creating draconian bills. The GOP probably knows it's a losing issue making suppression of women's rights as a priority legislative target.

They found their angle with "gay grooming" and are forcing the issue making it a topic that must be discussed because of the bills they are pushing at the state level.

Why is any of this relevant? Do you believe that being heterosexual is preferable to being homosexual?

Lol, did you even read the abstract bro?

It's actually not a work of "genetics" like people in the lab doing PCR tests it's actually a hybrid of sociology questionnaires and analyzing 23andme data over a subset of UK people.

I'm going to guess the same replication problems they highlighted in other works in the area are going to dog it as well (this is a huge issue in psychology and social sciences) in the future.

Again, I'm not really very impressed. You're welcome to be impressed. But at least... understand what you're impressed by first bro.

If you look up citations for that study, there's one article that summarizes all the recent studies and the criticisms thereof. I forget what it was but it's there.

Did you order that book I suggested?

Do kids need to know what the various sexual orientations are to have empathy for people who are different? What about the various gender identities? Do they need to choose a pronoun everyday? Do they need a closet to change into the outfit of the pronoun or identity of their choice?

We're talking about kids in kindergarten through third-grade, kids that are failing more and more to learn to read and do basic arithmetic, you want to teach them in-depth lessons of the world of LGBT? No. You could teach them lessons in proper behavior, empathy, compassion, etc. without going into specifics or filling their heads with ideas they have little to no ability to critically think through.

Several people made the argument that environment doesn't matter since sexual orientation is genetic. That is incorrect. I got tired of seeing it.

Teaching that there are different people in their community, around the world is the appropriate way to go at the ages we are talking about. Mentioning LGBTQ+ will lead to questions like, what is a lesbian? What is gay? What is bisexual? What is transsexual? What is queer? What is the plus for?

Teaching them about... different people in the world, and that there are good people in all different shapes and sizes.. is appropriate for their age.

It's okay if you disagree, just sharing my point of view.

I agree. I would add that there is little to no connection between gays and lesbians and transgenders. They ain't the community people like to think the are.

My point with the pedophilia thing is that the people who are all for no boundaries in what kids of all ages could learn about LGBT topics will be the same that will be empathetic towards pedophiles. That is my prediction. I'm 41, I believe I'll see that take place before I'm 55.

    One of heterosexuals
    And one of transsexuals

which colony would have an increase of population in 100 years ?

For some reason I can't post a link from my phone, but Google "transsexual gives birth" You will find several articles about different people.
