Ha. Those lineups are pretty gross too. What is funny is that we won all 3 games (which was my point about baseball being baseball). I think I’d take this lineup over those probably hits because of the presence of Yordan who can win a game by himself, but Toro is better than Goodrum, Castro is better than Maldonado, but I might be better than Robles. Diaz wasn’t a part of those- I guess I forgot just how many games Diaz missed. How about a compromise- it wouldn’t have been possible in the past to trot out a lineup this bad when Diaz was rostered. Really- the main point is that none of this involves guys on the DL which is a little scary. Paternity is like the DL for the married guy again. Good if Yuli to get that out of the way in April and not Sept/October.

are other teams employing this strategy of resting stars after a few games? what the hell is the reasoning here?

You'd think with Dusty being an older manager he wouldn't have this managerial style of being so concerned about rest. He came from an era where your best players rarely had a non injury related off day.

There's more incentive this year to get a top 2 seed to get a first round bye.

Dusty in his 2 season as manager, 2 ALCS appearances, 1 World Series appearance. Bad at his job?

Why is Tucker not hitting 2nd or leadoff....

So you'll put Pena at the 2-hole with very little exp over Tucker...

I don’t think that is a good way to judge the effectiveness of a manager.

In that case, you just admitted AJ Hinch was a better manager.

I still don’t know why he hits Altuve leadoff. If Bregman is healthy he will have a better on base % as he is more selective at the plate. Altuve is becoming more of an all or nothing hitter as his career unfolds. His numbers say he should hit 5th or 6th. I know Jose had a .350 OBA last season. I expect that to keep dropping as his average drops due to his increasing amount of whiffs at the plate. Hopefully he goes back to being a complete hitter but its not trending that way.

The spring training thing would make sense except they have 2 off days this week. I think they’re just expecting to walk into the division title again this year

AJ Hinch had better teams. I never said Dusty was a better manager. However, some of you act like he is totally incompetent.
